We're thrilled to share that This Van Can achieved the Greater Manchester Collaboration Award at last night’s Greater Manchester Cancer Awards! 🎉

The award recognised Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance’s This Van Can - Mobile Community Outreach initiative, delivered in collaboration with EMS Healthcare and key partners across the region.

Using data-driven location planning, the initiative targets underserved and higher risk communities through outreach which has focused on prostate, oesophageal, colorectal and ovarian cancers, alongside wider cancer awareness activity - each designed to support education, engagement and earlier diagnosis across different cancer pathways.

Together, over the last 18 months, the initiative has delivered:

• Over 200 community events
• Engagement with more than 36,000 people
• Diagnostic tests on over 370 at-risk individuals

Laura Nash, Director of Community Engagement at EMS Healthcare, said:

“We’re incredibly proud to see This Van Can recognised with the Greater Manchester Collaboration Award. This initiative shows what’s possible when organisations come together with a shared purpose - bringing vital cancer awareness, education and early diagnostic support directly into the heart of communities that need it most.

Through partnership, innovation and targeted outreach, we’ve been able to engage with thousands of people across Greater Manchester and help improve opportunities for earlier diagnosis. Congratulations to everyone involved in making such a meaningful impact.”

Last night EMS Healthcare were thrilled to host the first Wirral PI Academy event.

An initiative by the Wirral Research Collaborative, and supported by NHS Cheshire and Merseyside and EMS Healthcare, the evening brought together an incredible line-up of experts from primary care, secondary care, academia, the voluntary sector and commercial research.

From James Perry's inspiring introduction, through to engaging talks on governance, partnerships, and career development as a Principal Investigator, the event was packed with insight and collaboration.

It was a pleasure to welcome attendees aboard some of our mobile research units that are bringing clinical research into the hearts of communities.

This was just the first in a series of Wirral PI Academy events - and if last night was anything to go by, the future looks very exciting for research across the region.

👏 A huge thank you to all the speakers, organisers, and attendees who made it a success.
