Minding Me Psychologists

Minding Me Psychologists I am a Psychologist and Coach with 20 years experience working with clients to help them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

I am a Psychologist and Coach with a wealth of experience working with clients from all walks of life. I understand the psychology of coaching and am proficient in the use of a range of advanced coaching techniques and models and their application to life, health, business, and performance coaching.

All of my work is centred around helping people to change aspects of their lives that they are n

ot satisfied with. As a trained Psychologist, I can help you to make sense of the difficulties you are facing and explore your responses to such situations. I do this in a supportive way, with a little bit of challenge when appropriate. I use psychological theory in a practical, down to earth way. I firmly believe that we have the answers to our own problems within ourselves; however we can’t always see these clearly. When coaching, I work with you to facilitate the process of you finding these answers. Along the way I may also teach you some useful techniques, or invite you to use certain tools if I think they will benefit you’.

I have helped people with a number of different issues, including overcoming anxiety and panic attacks, developing self-confidence; overcoming stress, managing long term health conditions, deciding on a next career move; preparing for promotion; going back to work after a period of time off; dealing with redundancy; managing difficult relationships; preparing for exams, interviews and presentations; overcoming procrastination and time management issues.

I tailor my coaching approach to the individual needs of all of my clients. The general structure is to work with clients to:

Increase their self-awareness and clarify their goals. Identify and understand any self-limiting beliefs and behaviours. Challenge these limiting thoughts and behaviours by practicing more helpful strategies. Review progress and action plan for sustained change

Today marks 21 years since I was diagnosed with MS.

Looking back, I can acknowledge that it has shaped me. It has taught me about loss, adaptation, resilience, gratitude and perspective.

MS has influenced not only who I am, but also how I support others through their own challenges.

To everyone living with MS or any other challenging conditions, I see you.
The strength it takes to carry on isn’t always visible, but it’s there.

💜 Happy World MS Day.

This lovely client came for support during an important transition in her life. Over time we worked on confidence, managing worries and taking practical steps towards her goals.

I’m delighted she found our sessions helpful and I wish her every success with her university application.

Allow anxiety without panic and it begins to lose its power.

Because anxiety itself isn’t dangerous, it’s your body’s alarm system doing its job. The problem isn’t the feeling, it’s the reaction to it. When we panic, fight it, or try to get rid of it quickly, we send a message to the brain that something really is wrong… and the anxiety intensifies.

But when you allow it to be there, without adding fear on top, you break that cycle. Your body learns, “I can handle this.” The sensations peak, then naturally settle.

Over time, anxiety stops feeling like a threat… and starts to feel like something you can move through

I’ve had the privilege of working with some very special children over the years.

One thing they remind me of every day is that children aren’t born knowing how to manage big feelings, they learn.

When we teach children simple strategies to cope with worry, sadness, anger, and overwhelm, we give them tools they can carry for life.

-How to name their feelings
-How to calm their bodies
-How to talk about what’s going on inside
-How to ask for help

These aren’t just skills for childhood.
They become lifelong foundations for resilience, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.

Supporting children’s mental health today helps create stronger, healthier adults tomorrow.

As a full-time wheelchair user, I’ve found myself getting more anxious about my heart health.

When opportunities to exercise shrink, my mind is very good at filling the space with what ifs.
The health anxiety is real.

So sitting here catching my breath after a very short walk, tripping with nearly every step, is me doing what I can.

Each attempt reminds my brain and body how to keep working together. That’s neuroplasticity in action.

I still feel anxious sometimes.
But instead of fighting it, I notice it, acknowledge it, and accept it.
I ask myself every day, What can I do today?

Because when things are really hard, it’s very easy to not do them.

I’ve promised myself that every day I’ll do what I can.
But many days I have to accept it’s better to sit down before gravity makes the decision for me… as it has many times before.

Acceptance isn’t giving up.
It’s working with your body instead of against it.

And slowly, I’m learning that any progress is meaningful.

It was fantastic to see George Pig wearing a hearing aid on Peppa Pig.

I remember attending a disability awareness class years ago and learning that hearing loss is one of the most common disabilities in the world. Yet it’s still something we don’t always see or talk about openly.

That’s why representation like this matters.

Globally, around 1 in 6 people live with a disability. When children grow up seeing hearing aids, wheelchairs, or other differences as normal, it builds awareness. And awareness is where acceptance begins.

As someone who lives with a disability that was hidden for a long time, moments like this really matter to me. Representation and awareness can make such a difference to how we see ourselves, and how others see us too.
