Take care of your feet all year round. You can make a big difference with a few simples steps:

🫧 WASH YOUR FEET DAILY 🫧

Shoes and socks are worn for long periods, creating a warm, moist environment; ideal for microbes. Daily washing helps remove sweat, dead skin, and bacteria, preventing conditions like athlete’s foot, fungal nail infections, and foot odour.

▪️ Wash with mild soap and warn water
▪️ Focus on the soles and the spaces between toes
▪️ Dry thoroughly, especially between toes

🧴 MOISTURISE 🧴

The skin on your feet is often the driest on your body, making it prone to cracking and discomfort. Cracked skin can serve as an entry point for bacteria and fungi, increasing the risk of infections.

Moisturising regularly helps maintain skin hydration (preventing cracking), maintains skin's resilience and elasticity, (reducing the chances of forming corns and calluses) and strengthens the skin's protective barrier (reducing the likelihood of infections).

▪️ Apply to heels and soles
▪️ Avoid the areas between toes

🧦 FRESH SOCKS 🧦

Our feet sweat for thermoregulation, to maintain skin moisture or due to emotional and mental stress. Feet are one of the most sweat prone areas of the body with the human foot containing around 125,000 - 250,000 sweat glands which can excrete up to half a pint per day.

This moisture, along with dead skin cells, accumulates in socks, creating an environment in which bacteria can thrive. To maintain foot health and hygiene it is important to wear a clean pair of socks daily (or more often if necessary).

▪️ Choose socks made with breathable fabrics
▪️ Wash socks after each use
▪️ Rotate shoes to allow them to dry out completely before reuse

🔎 INSPECT FEET OFTEN 🔍

Regular foot inspections allow for early detection of many issues (such as: cuts, blisters, swelling, or nail changes), reducing the risk of serious infections and permanent damage - especially important for those with diabetes and circulatory conditions.

▪️ Check your feet at home
▪️ Book an appointment with a podiatrist

🦶 Biomechanical Assessment 🦶

A Biomechanical Assessment provides a comprehensive understanding of foot, ankle and lower limb mechanics, allowing for personalized, effective care that addresses the underlying causes of pain and dysfunction rather than just the symptoms.

The assessment will evaluate:
👣 Gait Analysis
👣 Postural Assessment
👣 Joint Range of Motion
👣 Muscle Strength and Flexibility
👣 Pressure Distribution
👣 Footwear Evaluation

Through a combination of balance training, mobility exercises and custom orthotics (designed with your biomechanical needs in mind), the results of the assessment can be used to:
👣 Provide targeted interventions that address the mechanical causes of discomfort, reducing pain.
👣 Identify abnormal stress patterns early, preventing further injury.
👣 Enhance gait efficiency, joint range of motion, and muscle strength.
