People sometimes assume that because I work full-time, have a family, and run a private therapy practice, Iโve got stress all figured out.
I absolutely do not.
Actually, one of the things Iโve become increasingly suspicious of is my own ability to recognise when Iโm stressed.
If youโd asked me years ago whether I was stressed, Iโd have said no.
Then Iโd have told you I wasnโt sleeping properly, was permanently tired, couldnโt switch off and was getting irritated by things (people?!) that normally wouldnโt bother me.
Apparently that all counted as โfineโ.
I think thatโs the bit that interests me most.
How good we are at explaining things away.
We can normalise almost anything!
We tell ourselves weโre just tired, just busy, just in a rut, just need a holiday, just need to get through this week, justโฆ
Then six months goes by.
Anyway, maybe thatโs why Sunday evenings can feel a bit strange.
Not because Monday is coming.
But because thereโs enough quiet for the excuses to stop talking for a minute.
If any of this feels a bit familiar, and you think maybe something needs to change, just drop me a message for more info.
