Well that’s a wrap! Finished the 13 week pre holiday diet today and I’m pleased.

I’ll do comparison photos another time but although I didn’t get as lean as I’d like, I can see the noticeable improvements in muscle mass.

A lot of lessons learned over the last 13 weeks.

Family meet-up tomorrow then off to Spain for a week with the family for a week long refeed and reset before deciding what to do next.

Body transformations done right take months and years and I’m proud to be putting the work in so consistently.

Bigger and better is yet to come. Age is just a number.

I am the worst hypocrite when it comes to telling people they should be consistent.

As much as I can be ultra consistent with food, fitness etc, I’m far from perfect in other areas of life and that means I’ve been able to dig down into WHY and more specifically, how I can help you overcome the stop \ start cycle with your diet or fitness.

I desperately want to et good at guitar and lessons is the obvious and fastest way to do that.

Every time I start lessons I find a new teacher, a new method or something I truly believe is going to unlock the magic secret.

It barely takes a couple of weeks before it all falls apart.

I keep trying to add something else into my schedule when it’s already straining under the pressure of work, fitness, kids, family, life admin etc.

What I should do is work out when I can squeeze in 2-3 minutes of practice and get consistent at doing that daily.

Might not seem a lot but over the course of 28 days that’s at least an hours worth.

From there I can build up gradually and over time build those practice sessions up to 5, 10, 15 minutes a day.

Your goals should be BIG but the steps needed to get you there should be teeny tiny so there’s less friction to getting them done.

Midlife Comeback Club is all about helping you take those daily steps that add up to a massive outcome.

Details coming soon as to how you can join Septembers intake.

The longer this diet has gone on the MORE motivated I’ve become.

Usually it’s the other way round, but there’s a reason it’s worked for me.

The more you can see and feel something is working, the more likely you are to commit to it more.

The reason you keep giving up is because you’re either not tracking your progress or not doing the right things to make a meaningful difference.

I worked out which actions were bringing me the most success and doubled down on them.

Being more motivated doesn’t mean I found it easier or more enjoyable. I still had to drag my arse out the door to go on some long walks in the blistering heat but I knew it would pay off.

I’m super chuffed I didn’t abandon the diet altogether. Instead I just focused on the actions and detached my emotions from the outcome eg scale weight.

I think this is another reason the diet has ended so strongly.

I’ve had to turn down several opportunities for blow out meals out and tasty sweet treats but there’s going to be plenty of time for that on holiday and in my gaining phase.

Just a couple of days until I take my final photos and set off for sunny Spain for a week of all inclusive shenanigans.

Final update to follow……….

‘I just can’t seem to stick to it’ is far more common than ‘I can’t motivate myself to start’.

Getting started is exciting. It’s full of promise, belief, optimism and novelty.

The reality of staying consistent is usually boring, mundane, routine, relentless, challenging, confusing and frustrating.

Finding another new diet or workout won’t fix your consistency issues unless you tackle the root cause head on.

I should know. Anyone remember those ‘I’m starting guitar lessons again’ videos?!

The midlife comeback club is the ultimate antidote to the things which keep tripping you up and making you doubt it’ll ever happen.

Let me know if you want more info. Spaces opening soon for September.

Don’t write off the rest of the year just yet.

The day after I decided to ditch my diet, I felt two things….

One was an enormous sense of relief the other was an even greater sense of determination to go down fighting.

Letting go of the end goal a little but gave me even more bandwidth to use in a positive way.

After weeks of my weight not budging, it budged.

I won’t lie, I’ve been getting up early to get extra steps in and cutting my food back.

On top of that I’m still sleeping terribly and struggling to keep afloat with all my work commitments.

As I said last week, there are certain time that are better to diet than others.

For me, starting the Midlife Comeback Club as well as trying to work on my personal development and build my 1:1 online coaching business all at the same time might not have been the smartest move.

I’m looking a lot leaner now but have the eye bags and mouth ulcers to go with it. However, those things will heal and what I’ll be left with is a sense of pride that I didn’t give up and that I can do tough things.

Just 1.5 weeks of dieting to go as I write this so that’s two more updates to come.

I know I won’t be as lean as last time I dieted but the lessons I’ve learned will make the next one my best yet.

Did you miss me? I went missing from Instagram…..again 🙄

I could make all the excuses but ultimately between my diet, my business, the Midlife Comeback Club and school summer holidays, I’ve let my standards slip.

It’s so easy to do. One day becomes two and before you know it a whole week has passed.

This is the cycle people get stuck in with their fat loss and fitness. Before you know it, you’re living a life full of regrets and wishing you’d done something about it.

The magic ingredient to getting started is accountability. You don’t need accountability for life but in the initial stages it’s invaluable whatever level you’re at.

Accountability is the stronger, more robust version of ‘fake it ‘till you make it’.

This post is me making myself accountable to the entire internet.

If you feel a bit lost, fed up, overweight and unfit. You feel like your best years are behind you and wish you could turn back the clock and put right some of those mistakes. Then the Midlife Comeback Club is definitely for you.

We’ll be taking on new members in September so keep your eyes peeled 👀

I don’t do well with failure so this should have hit me pretty hard but it actually helped me to relax.

I’ve been fighting against the challenges by getting up earlier and earlier, cutting calories in and around social events etc and it’s been stressful.

Doing this alongside the things competing for my time, energy and attention has drained me and affected my mood, sleep and energy levels.

Getting ultra lean, starting a new business and keeping the others going is pretty intense.

I’m still going to give the next 2.5 weeks my all, BUT I’ll be making sure I don’t try and give it more than I have available.

There’s no such thing as failure. You either win or you learn.

I had no idea who I was, who I wanted to be, or how to become that person. But I knew one thing……

That I wanted to marry this amazing woman, have kids and grow old together.

That was 16 years ago and it’s been greater than I could’ve imagined.

She’s put up with me, encouraged me and supported me at times I haven’t deserved it.

I will never accept getting ‘old’ as such, but the passing of time gives me more opportunities to live in the bliss I feel when we’re together.

I’m looking forward to many more years and adventures together.

Confession time. I’ve let my workload, stress and self doubt get in the way of my important actions.

We’re all human and sometimes our thoughts and feelings get the better of us and kick all logical thought in the dick.

So here I am resetting, going again and refusing to give up.

I did NOT expect that to happen.

It’s been 7 long months since I met up with and all we had planned was to discuss how to improve each others coaching.

Before the morning was done we were buzzed off our t**s on caffeine and excitement .

Seemingly out of nowhere, just by chatting, sharing experiences, reminiscing and bouncing off each other, we came up the ‘MIDLIFE COMEBACK CLUB’.

24 hours later and the excitement won’t subside, I can see the vision so clearly.

We are going to build the best community for midlifers who have been kicked in the dick by life and let things slide and are now ready to fight back and make a comeback worthy of an 80’s action movie.

This day showed me just how much is possible when you surround yourself with the right people, which is exactly what the MCC is going to revolve around.

If you want to be part of the beta test (which will cost you NOTHING btw), ping me a DM.
