Social Groups – Our community based social groups offer opportunities for supported socializing, meeting new people, making

new friends and having a chat. Arts and Crafts – You don’t need to be Picasso to discover therapy in creativity. Our facilitated arts and crafts groups offer a wide range of activities that are fun and therapeutic, such as candle making, quilling and canvas painting. Coping with life courses – Six weekly courses aimed at helping people cope with Depression, Anxiety, Stress, Self-esteem, Anger and Assertiveness. Nature can sooth and there’s something satisfying in seeing what you've sown, grown. If you don’t have green fingers then let our garden grow some for you! Bake club – Delve into our kitchen and find a jar of new skills and a bowl full of satisfaction. Cooking and baking is a new found popular therapy for many. Give it a go and you too may experience the taste of sweet success. Recovery Groups – Our facilitated recovery groups allow individuals to share similar experiences allowing the benefit of peer support, whether giving or receiving it. Volunteer services – Are you looking to give something back to Mind, your community, or are you looking to build experience for future employment? From office work to peer support, we may have a suitable volunteer position for you. Are you interested in becoming a Mental Health First Aider and improving your confidence in supporting someone experiencing a mental health problem?

Join our Adult Mental Health First Aid course this June and gain the skills, knowledge and confidence to recognise mental health problems, start supportive conversations and signpost people to appropriate help.

During this accredited two-day course, you'll learn how to:
✔ Recognise the signs of common mental health problems
✔ Provide initial support to someone
✔ Approach conversations with confidence and empathy
✔ Promote positive mental health and wellbeing in your workplace and community

Earlier this month, we launched a new support group for men bereaved by su***de.

Held in a peaceful woodland setting, the monthly sessions offer time to step away from everyday pressures, connect with others who understand and spend time outdoors in a supportive environment. Sessions are facilitated by a qualified counsellor and there is no pressure to talk about your loss unless you want to.

Mental Health Awareness Week is a great opportunity to think about how we support our own wellbeing and the wellbeing of people around us. This year’s theme, , reminds us that even small steps can make a difference.

We know that mental health affects everyone differently. As a local charity, we provide a range of community-based support to people living across Maidstone, Ashford and Swale including wellbeing groups, training courses, affordable counselling and specialist services for those aged 9–25.

Taking action for mental health can start with small steps:
