Ageing shouldn't mean losing your say in how you live. A care plan is a big part of how your loved one keeps theirs.

It's simpler than it sounds. It's really just how we get to know your loved one and make sure they're looked after the way they'd want, written down so everyone supporting them is on the same page. As their needs change, the plan changes too.

Last week in Kent was hot… like really hot. It was the sticky, overwhelming kind of heat that makes everything feel 10 times harder 🫠🥵

On Monday, Shayna took Ellie to the farm, though it can be even harder to process emotions and explain how you're feeling when it's that hot. Ellie powered through and showed real resilience, cleaning out the chickens and visiting the sheep (they looked pretty fed up with the weather in their woolly jumpers, too! 🐑)

The best part of a week like that? Finding some shade and an ice-cold drink!🧊

Kent is officially baking! ☀️

Temperatures are soaring, so it’s time to be smart and look after each other. Keep your curtains closed, swap the hot tea for iced water, and definitely check in on anyone who might struggle in the heat.

Heat exhaustion sneaks up on you with dizziness and clammy skin. If it doesn’t improve after 30 minutes and hydration, or if skin goes hot and dry, it’s an emergency.

This week is Learning Disability Week 2026, and this year’s theme is “Do you see me?”

For many individuals with learning disabilities, feeling truly acknowledged, heard, and involved in decisions about their lives relies on having appropriate support, people, and services that meet them where they are.

Tomorrow, some of our team will be heading along to Jubilee Square for the West Kent Learning Disability Team’s pop-up events. Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust will be out across Maidstone sharing information about:
- Annual health checks
- Hospital passports
- Communication support
- Falls screening
…and much more

Tomorrow, Friday 19 June 📍
- Maidstone High Street, Jubilee Square from10am to 12pm
- Spadework, West Malling from 1pm to 3pm (including a Makaton Sign Along session)

"Tell me you love your job without telling me! X"

Not long ago, Faye worked a typical 9-5 office job while also dedicating her Mondays to part-time work with Continuity, supporting Ellie. Those Mondays quickly became the best part of her week.

In 2025, she decided to leave the office behind and join us full-time. Since then, we've worked with Faye to fund her training in complex care, and she has become a familiar, trusted face for three more families. If you’re sitting at a desk right now, questioning if there’s a more fulfilling job out there, you don’t have to make a drastic change overnight. For too many older LGBTQ+ people, the answer is yes.

There are over 1 million older LGBTQ+ people in the UK, but research shows many still feel anxious about letting care workers into their homes. After a lifetime of discrimination, some feel they have to tuck away photos, move books, or avoid talking about the people they love, all to feel safer from judgement.

This Pride month, and every month, our promise is that your home remains your safe space. It will remain a place where your identity isn't just accepted but cherished, always.

Everyone deserves care that understands their story, respects their relationships, and affirms WHO they are, not just what they need help with. Whoever you are and whoever you love, we promise you will be cared for with warmth, dignity, and absolute respect 💜

Sunday's trip to Wildwood was entirely directed by Chloe, who stole Shayna’s phone and appointed herself head of PR 😎

As chief photographer, Chloe made sure to capture the real stars of the day, giving the local wildlife some very specific staff promotions. Head Carer Naomi has officially been recast as a furry manager running team hop-rations, while Shayna was immortalised as a ginger chicken who clearly rules the roost.

Huge thanks to Chloe for the best camera roll updates so far this summer, and to Shayna for sharing the content with us when she eventually got her phone back!💜
