Services include Microsuction and warm water Irrigation to remove excess ear wax to prevent blockages and restore hearing. We offer weekday and weekend evening and daytime appointments across most areas in Essex and treatment is carried out in the comfort of your own home. Appointments are available to be booked in the following locations, but if you are unsure if we cover your location please message us for further details:

Blackwater Ear Care also specialises in providing treatment to those with specific care needs, including children and those with learning and physical disabilities. We offer a wide selection of appointment times including weekday, weekend and evening appointments, but if you are having trouble finding an appointment to suit your needs please do get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate you. All treatment fees include a non-refundable £25 consultation fee. If following the consultation you do require treatment, the consultation fee will be deducted from the final treatment cost. Appointments generally last for up to 30 minutes and it is important to complete our medical history questionnaire and consent form prior to your appointment time to ensure appointments do not overrun.

A huge thank you to all of my wonderful customers over the last couple of weeks. Things have been non stop since half term and I’m extremely grateful to every one of you.
I’m currently alone at home, sat outside in the sunshine with a cup of tea. A very rare occurrence! I’m still in my scrubs but for now, who cares!!!!

EAR WAX: WHAT IS IT AND DO YOU NEED TREATMENT?

👂 Ear Wax (Cerumen) – is your Ear’s Natural Protection

Ear wax is a natural substance produced by glands in the ear canal. It helps to:

* Trap dust, dirt, and bacteria
* Protect the delicate skin inside the ear
* Keep the ear canal moisturized
* Help prevent infections

Most ear wax naturally moves out of the ear on its own and does not require treatment.

Signs of Ear Wax Build-Up

You may have excessive ear wax if you experience:

* Reduced hearing
* A feeling of blockage or fullness in the ear
* Earache or discomfort
* Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
* Dizziness
* Itching in the ear canal

Treatment Options

✅ Ear wax softening drops may help soften hardened wax. Examples include olive oil drops or proprietary ear wax removal drops.

✅ Professional ear wax removal may be recommended if symptoms persist. This can include:

* Microsuction
* Irrigation (ear flushing, where appropriate)
* Manual removal by a trained healthcare professional

❌ Do not use cotton buds, hairpins, or other objects to remove ear wax, as these can push wax deeper and damage the ear.

When to Seek Medical Advice

Contact a healthcare professional if you have:

* Persistent hearing loss
* Severe pain
* Ear discharge
* Bleeding from the ear
