💜 Bespoke really does mean bespoke 💜🧡especially at end of life. 🧡

I’m so proud to see a vision come to life. What I envisioned for truly bespoke end-of-life care is now happening in real life, adapting in the moment, responding to what each individual actually needs, and making sure the care fits around them, not the other way around.

End-of-life care can change from one hour to the next, and our support changes with it.

We are currently supporting an individual with 6 visits throughout the day, with 2 of those visits requiring two carers 💜🧡meaning our Motherly Love team are providing the equivalent of 8 care calls every day to help keep this individual comfortable and supported at home. 🏡💜

But we also recognise when care isn’t needed.

If one of our double-up visits coincides with the District Nursing team attending and they have already assisted with personal care, we can change that planned double call to a single carer — or cancel the additional support if it simply isn’t required.

For our end-of-life individuals, we don’t charge for that unnecessary additional call, like we typically would for cancelled scheduled care visits.

It’s about providing the care that’s needed at that moment, rather than providing a service simply because it’s written on a rota.

And sometimes that flexibility works the other way too, needs can increase quickly, and we can provide several visits throughout the day when an individual and their family need us most.

Today, one of those changes has unexpectedly left me with a little 30-minute gap… so I’ve grabbed the opportunity for a coffee and bacon sarnie before heading back out! ☕🥓

This is domiciliary end-of-life care at Motherly Love: responsive, flexible, personal and built around the individual right until the end. 💜🧡

I love working for this company because all staff are dedicated and put 100% into our work, giving the service users purpose, companionship and safety. All working around each other and working together to make everything happen as it should. Always going above and beyond for your staff and your service users. The main thing is, is being valued and appreciated for the work we do. This is something that's different for me working for this company. You go above and beyond your means for us all and the lovely service users. Also like to add the training and going further in our careers and the support we get 🙌🧡

Very understanding to the needs and circumstances of the carers, willing to try to adapt / adopt care hours so that carers and clients are both happy. Encouraging and supporting team and individual growth. 😊

How accommodating you are to people like me with young children, and how understanding you are. You're very supportive, you care for us and you're just the best 💜🧡

I enjoy working with this team as that is exactly what we are❤️we are very supported and thought is given into circumstances that occur and as a team we work together to ensure the clients receive the best possible person centred care and the support they need. The training is tailored to ensure both mandatory training is completed but also any that we feel could be beneficial to both staff and clients x

💜✨ INTRODUCING THE MOTHERLY LOVE PURPLE HEART ✨💜

We are so pleased to introduce something new at Motherly Love Domiciliary Care — our Purple Heart Recognition 💜

One of the things I’m incredibly passionate about is making sure the wonderful things that happen in care don’t go unnoticed.

Domiciliary care is very different to working together in one building. The majority of our carers are out working independently in people’s homes, which means so many beautiful moments of care happen quietly behind closed doors.

We want to hear about them. 💜

💜 What is a Purple Heart?

A Purple Heart is our way of recognising a member of the Motherly Love team who has genuinely gone above and beyond.

Good, safe, kind and person-centred care is what we expect every day. A Purple Heart is for that little bit extra — a moment that really made a difference.

It might be:

💜 An exceptional act of kindness or compassion
💜 Going the extra mile for someone
💜 Making an individual smile on a difficult day
💜 Taking extra time to reassure or comfort someone
💜 Showing great initiative
💜 Noticing something important and acting on it
💜 Helping someone achieve something that matters to them
💜 Supporting a family or fellow team member
💜 Or simply doing something that made you think, “They deserve to be recognised for that.”

Sometimes the smallest gesture can have the biggest impact.

💜 AND THIS IS WHERE WE NEED YOU!

Are you cared for by Motherly Love?

Is someone you know cared for by us?

Are you a family member, friend or someone who has seen one of our carers go that extra mile?

👉 Please get in touch and tell us!

Tell us the carer’s name and a little bit about what they did. You can contact Danielle directly, tell a member of our team, or complete one of our Purple Heart nomination slips.

We will also be sending information about the Purple Heart out with our invoices so the individuals we support and their families have the opportunity to nominate too. 💌

Our team can also recognise one another, because sometimes another carer is the person who sees that special piece of teamwork, kindness or initiative.

💜 What happens when someone receives one?

Purple Hearts will be recorded and celebrated as part of recognising the fantastic work happening across Motherly Love.

There is no limit to how many Purple Hearts can be awarded, and this is absolutely not a competition.

It’s simply about creating a culture where exceptional care, kindness and those extra-special moments are noticed and appreciated.

Because when someone goes above and beyond, we want them to know:

💜 We saw what you did.
💜 It mattered.
💜 And we appreciate you.

So, individuals, families, friends and our Motherly Love team…

If you see something special, tell us!

💜 See it. Recognise it. Purple Heart it. 💜

Just having a discussion with some of the team this morning, and I think we’re all feeling the pinch when it comes to fuel! ⛽️🚗

So we definitely welcomed the Government’s increase in the approved mileage rate from 45p to 55p per mile from April 2026 🙌

One thing I never want to put someone off domiciliary care is the thought of using your own car and paying for fuel. Yes, it’s one of the downsides of the job 🚘we travel! But there are things in place that make a real difference.

At Motherly Love, our carers are paid for the full time they are on shift, including travel time between the individuals they support. 💜

And don’t forget HMRC mileage tax relief! I was doing around 30,000 work miles a year, my own claim resulted in £10,789 back from HMRC. That certainly isn’t something to be sniffed at!

My fuel-card records actually showed I’d spent £7,689.35 on fuel that year because the mileage allowance isn’t just about the fuel you put in your car; it recognises the wider cost of using your vehicle for work too.

So my little FYI for anyone considering domiciliary care don’t automatically let the mileage put you off. Keep good records, know what you can claim, (which is explained during induction and accountancy service available to help you with self assessment if needed)

Are you looking for a role in care that actually works around family life?

Motherly Love Domiciliary Care is looking for a kind, reliable and compassionate person to join our team, working school-friendly hours.

We know that brilliant carers don’t stop being brilliant carers because they have children, school runs or family commitments. That’s why we’re offering a role that allows you to build a career in care without sacrificing those important times at home.

🏡 What does working for Motherly Love look like?

The majority of our visits are single-carer calls, although we do have some double-up visits. You’ll work independently in the community while being part of a team that communicates and supports one another throughout the day.

Our care is genuinely person-centred and bespoke. One visit might involve personal care or medication support, while another could involve preparing a fresh meal, helping around the home, going shopping, enjoying a walk, attending an appointment or simply providing companionship.

We want the people we support to continue living their lives, making their own choices and remaining as independent as possible in their own homes.

And we want our carers to feel valued too.

You’ll be joining a small, supportive team where you’re trusted and empowered, communication and handovers happen in real time, and you’re never expected to feel alone simply because you’re working independently.

We’re looking for someone who is compassionate, dependable, confident working independently and genuinely wants to make a difference. Experience in care would be welcomed, but finding the right person with the right values is just as important to us.

🚗 Due to the nature of domiciliary care, a driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
🕘 Monday–Friday ✔️availability must be between 9:00am–3:30pm
🧡 16 hours per week contract - possibility of more hours if desired in the future
🎉 No weekends
💜 A supportive, family-feel team where family always comes first. We guarantee time off for all those important occasions involving your children because we believe you should never have to choose between your job and being there for the moments that matter. 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒
📚 Training and opportunities to develop level2-level7 diplomas all fully funded.
🚗 Mileage paid by HMRC - self assessment.
🏡 Working within our local community ryedale.
🤑£700 yearly bonus dependant on conduct and completion of desirable training.
🛫 Holiday entitlement 16 hours × 5.6 = 89.6 hours paid holiday per year.
🫶 Free counselling support & 🏋️ Gym & fitness discounts access to discounted gym memberships and fitness offers through our employee wellbeing package. Also as part of the team you would have access to a confidential counselling service, because looking after your emotional wellbeing is just as important as looking after your physical wellbeing.

If you’ve wanted to return to care, start a new career, or simply find a job that fits around school and family life, we’d love to hear from you.

📱 8 Days Away… Yet Communication Never Stopped 💜

This week has been a very special one for me.

It’s been my first proper week’s holiday in over 10 months and a much needed break. It’s especially meaningful as it’s almost a year since I was diagnosed with an encephalocele, a journey that ultimately led to brain surgery in October.

As Nominated Individual and Registered Manager of Motherly Love, I’ll admit that actually stepping away and going on holiday felt daunting.

When you’re so involved in your service every day, there’s always that little bit of fear:

Have I empowered my team enough? Have I given them the confidence to make decisions, communicate effectively and support each other without me physically being there?

Well… I think I got my answer. 🧡

I was absolutely blown away by just how much I had.

📩 In just 8 days, our team exchanged an incredible 978 messages.

And those aren’t just messages.

They’re evidence of communication, teamwork, accountability and safe, responsive care happening in real time.

At Motherly Love, we do have some double-up calls where two carers work together, but the majority of our visits are carried out by single carers working independently in the community. This makes strong, real time communication and handovers between our team even more important.

That’s why communication is so important to us.

💜 Handovers happen in real time, not hours later.
💜 Changes in an individual’s health or wellbeing are shared.
💜 Medication updates and concerns are communicated.
💜 Carers ask questions and seek advice.
💜 The team supports and reassures one another.
💜 Information is passed on so the next carer arrives informed and prepared.
💜Travelling updates.
💜 Health advice.

Although much of domiciliary care is delivered individually, nobody at Motherly Love should ever feel like they’re working alone.

And perhaps what I’m most proud of is that none of this stopped because I went on holiday.

The communication continued.
The handovers continued.
The decision-making continued.
And most importantly, the care continued.

Something else that made me incredibly proud was seeing the two members of our team naturally stepping forward and to steer our group communication while I was away.

They kept conversations flowing, supported their colleagues, made sure information was picked up and followed through, and helped ensure our real-time handovers continued exactly as they should.

And watching the rest of the team respond, communicate and work together around them was just as lovely to see.

As a Registered Manager, that’s exactly what empowerment should look like.

It isn’t about one person having all the answers or making every decision. It’s about giving people the knowledge, confidence and trust to step forward, support each other, take ownership and recognise when something needs escalating.

I couldn’t be prouder of those two for stepping up or of the whole team for working so brilliantly together. 🧡

I’ve always wanted to build a team that doesn’t simply wait to be told what to do, but feels trusted, knowledgeable and empowered to take ownership of the care they provide.

Stepping away for eight days has shown me just how far we’ve come.

As an owner and Registered Manager, there is no greater feeling than being able to take a much-needed break and come home knowing that the people we support continued to receive the safe, personalised and compassionate care they deserve.

And perhaps one of my biggest reflections from this holiday is realising that I have empowered my team.

For me, that’s something to be incredibly proud of. 💜

To my whole team thank you. Thank you for your dedication, your communication, your professionalism and, most importantly, for supporting one another. Love Danielle

💜 Rounding Up Good Care Month 💜

As Good Care Month comes to an end, we wanted to finish by sharing some of the wonderful advice our team would give to anyone starting a career in care.

💜 “Treat every person as you would want someone to treat your own family.”

💜 “Listen, learn and grow.”

💜 “Look after yourself too. You can’t pour from an empty kettle.” ❤️

In care, we spend so much of our time supporting others that it’s easy to forget about ourselves. Looking after your own wellbeing isn’t selfish it’s essential. Taking time to rest, recharge and ask for support when you need it helps you continue providing the compassionate care that every individual deserves.

At Motherly Love, supporting our team is just as important as supporting the individuals we care for. That’s why our staff have access to a free, confidential counselling service, alongside flexible working, opportunities for career progression, shift swaps where possible and our commitment to supporting family life- never missing children’s events promise.

💜 “Your sat nav will become your new best friend… even if it occasionally sends you to the wrong street!” 🚗😂

💜 “Never fully trust the commode pan handle!” 🤭

Some advice is heartfelt, some is practical and some makes us smile.

A huge thank you to every member of the Motherly Love family for everything you’ve shared throughout Good Care Month, and for the dignity, compassion and professionalism you show every single day. We couldn’t be prouder of the team we’ve built and the difference you make to the lives of the individuals we support.

Here’s to continuing to make a difference, one visit at a time. 💜
