There are a couple of places available on the next 6 week course of Yoga for Calm starting Monday 11th May at 7:35pm at Chorlton Health Hub.

The class is gentle and suitable for beginners upwards and those who enjoy a somatic style of yoga. It is designed to soothe the nervous system and develop your capacity to experience calm.

It is a friendly group and new and familiar faces are always welcome 🙏

There’s more info on my website on the link in bio.

Best wishes

Rachael

The women I work with don’t think they’re burnt out…

…They’re doctors, lawyers, leaders.
They’re functioning at a high level - on the outside, at least.
They deliver. They get it done.

But inside?

They wake up already tight in their chest.
They forget what they were saying mid-sentence.
They make one small mistake and feel physically sick.

They’re not falling apart.
They’re over-performing, despite depletion.
Still showing up, but at a cost their body keeps trying to flag.

This isn’t about motivation.
Or mindset.
Or not being “resilient enough.”

It’s what happens when your nervous system stays switched on high alert for far too long, and you’re trying to keep going, despite your body telling you that it needs to do things differently.

But when you learn to work WITH your body - everything changes ✨

I’ve had a very sunny ☀️ weekend visiting Oxford this weekend - I was there to meet a coaching client who I coach as a volunteer for - and it was so lovely to meet in person for our session.

I’ve never been to Oxford before and I really enjoyed having a pootle around the sights after our session - including the History of Science museum where there were lots of astrological clocks that were used to tell the time and date by looking at the moon 🌕🌙
- a very different way of life.

It was very clear to see how the development of scientific academia and medicine was very heavily dominated by men until relatively recently. And while it’s now a different story - there’s still a long way to go.

I’ve had a gorgeous evening facilitating a wellbeing session for .solicitors family law team network and associates - hosted in this beautiful space at Altrincham Town Hall 🙏

We did some somatic movement, breathwork, yoga nidra and writing for wellbeing - welcoming in the energy of spring 🌸🌱- made even more special with the evening sun coming through the windows.

All finished off with delicious food (the lentil dhal was 👌) from - thank you 🙏 🙏🙏

Buddy and I had a gorgeous hike in the sunshine yesterday ☀️ I think he loved it even more than I did!

I realised when I was walking yesterday that it must have been a while since I’ve posted here on this account - time has been flying!

I’ve had a full on few weeks (in a good way!) - busy with clients, a CPD course I’m enjoying, as well as more menopause, which is exciting.

Hope you are doing well and are having a lovely weekend too! 👋

One of my highlights of the week so far has been facilitating a CPD workshop for a lovely group of coaches on coaching burnout and wellbeing.

The fabulous invited me along to lead the session for her Consciously Connected Coaching Collective and discuss my experience of coaching clients around the theme of burnout - including the ethical and practical considerations around this.

We discussed:

✨The relationship between neurodivergence and burnout

✨The role of hormones (especially perimenopause)

✨When will coaching be most effective in supporting clients pre and post burnout

✨Systemic vs individual factors and how we navigate these ethically in the coaching space

✨Where coaching fits (in relation to therapy and medical support)

✨Coaching approaches and evidence based interventions that I commonly use with clients

✨The role of supervision and reflective practice

….and much more! It was such a rich discussion that gave me lots of reflect on as the facilitator.

I highly recommend checking out Claire’s CPD group if you’re a coaching looking for development and connection as it was a really reflective and supportive space - I believe there are monthly masterclass sessions as well as a book group!

If you’d like to find out more about my 1-1 coaching to support you to break the burnout cycle and find a way to prioritise your wellbeing without sacrificing your ambitions, then do check out my Shine Bright coaching programme on my website.

It’s been a day of final sessions and integration sessions for some of the coaching clients that I’ve been working with over the past few months.

It’s always a privilege to work with people in this way and to see the changes that evolve over time.

Change looks different for everyone. But two things that I know from doing this work for a while now, that tend to be universally true are:

1. It’s never a linear or easy process (if it was we’d all have figured it out by now!) and we all do things differently.

2. Acceptance and being kind to yourself are the magic ingredients

3.Having the support of a professional and the space to explore your own emotions and circumstances make the process quicker and more effective than going it alone.

I’m onboarding new coaching clients for a January start for my Shine Bright coaching programme and other coaching options.

If you’re wondering if this might be for you, take a look at my website or sign up to my weekly email letter and if you think my approach might be a good fit for you - book an enquiry call and we can chat 👍

In my yoga classes last night, I invited the class to tune into the experience of ease in their bodies, their breath and their movement.

Sometimes this is easier said than done - but often there’s also an opportunity to lean into a tiny sliver of ease or comfort - even when it might initially feel far away.

So many of us find that our lives and work become are so busy and pressured that this pressure, stress and striving becomes our norm - and the ease and comfort that we all deserve becomes hard to access - or starts to feel uncomfortable.

But our bodies and minds need to experience ease to counter balance the doing, the striving, the action - otherwise things start to feel harder - and the pressure mounts even more (and can be part of the path towards burnout)

Of course - 100% ease isn’t the goal- we also need action, doing and a degree of healthy (but compassionate!) pressure in life as well as the ability to sit with unease and discomfort.

But in my experience lots of us (myself included) would do well with leaning into a little more ease as we navigate the day to day busy-ness.

So how might you find a little more ease today - and how does that feel in your body? X

Here’s some of my favourite bits from November…

It’s been a full month with lots of good things going on…of course, it’s not all been fun and joyful moments - life isn’t like that - but I like to reflect and savour the good stuff 💙

I’m looking forward to December - day one of opening the advent calendar is always a good one!

What have your favourite moments of the last month been?

I wanted to share a couple things that I’ve been up to outside of teaching yoga, with my hat on in case this is of interest - I know a lot of you also follow me over there too but not everyone does so thought I’d do a quick post with some highlights.

1. I’ve got an event coming up in Didsbury on 16th Nov called ‘Wellbeing in Perimenopause & Beyond’ which I’m really looking forward to - do come and join me and the lovely group of women who have already booked on. There’s a QR code on one of the slides and I’ll pop a link to the eventbrite page in my stories too.

2. I had a chat with the really brilliant Katie, who is the women’s health physio (just up the landing from the studio) and we chatted all about pelvic floor health - including what to do about a weak pelvic floor. Katie was full of really practical and sensible tips - I recommend everyone has a listen! You can find the conversation over on my other page or on Katie’s page .knsphysio

In other news, we’ve just started the final course of classes of 2024!

The next block of classes will be starting in Jan, drop me a message if you want me to email you when booking opens.

Wishing you a calm and peaceful start to the week
