Happy 107th birthday Kathleen. 🇮🇪☘️

This afternoon we had absolute joy celebrating Kathleen's incredible milestone of 107 years young. Although her actual birthday is next week, we couldn't resist celebrating a little early.

Born in Clifden, Connemara, Co Galway Kathleen has carried her Irish heritage and love of Galway in her heart throughout her wonderful life. She can still speak her native Gaelic language and one of the things she loves most is singing her beautiful songs of Galway.
Her favourites of course are "The Galway Shawl and Galway Bay."

Kathleen was surrounded by love today, together with her wonderful son Kevin and daughter Una, who are a special part of her life. We feel sure Kathleen must be one of the oldest Irish women alive today.

We were incredibly fortunate to have the Union Chapel Jazz Band provide the fantastic music for the afternoon. We are deeply grateful to them for giving up their afternoon to come and entertain us. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We were also delighted to welcome Martin and Annette Logan from the Irish in the UK TV. It was wonderful to have them join us and we look forward with great excitement to seeing the television recording ina a few weeks.

To make the afternoon even more special Kathleen shared her celebrations with our dear Monica who celebrated her own incredible 100th birthday. Two very special ladies celebrating life and wonderful memories.

We pray Kathleen you will be blessed with peace, love and good health and may you always carry the spirit of Connemara with you.

Happy 100th Birthday Monica. 🎂🌸

This afternoon Monica celebrated her 100th birthday ( a few days early) in the company of her own family and of course her St Joseph's family. It was a double celebration with Kathleen who celebrated her 107th birthday.
What an incredible milestone Monica, a century of memories, love, laughter and precious moments.

A really enjoyable afternoon with music by the Union Chapel Jazz Band, treats and plenty of birthday cake.

May God bless Monica with continued happiness, peace, good health and many more happy years to come, surrounded by the people who mean the most to you.

Happy 100th Monica, a truly remarkable lady and a blessing to all who know her. May you always know just how special and loved you are. ❤️🏵🌺🌼

This week we were overjoyed to welcome another group of 12 Spanish boys aged 16/17 from Tempir Catholic Youth club in Girona, Catalunya, who wanted to get outside and help in the gardens.
They did a fantastic job weeding, pruning and clearing up, their hard work was very much appreciated.

It was a pleasure to have such a fine, enthusiastic and upstanding group of young men helping out.

Thank you for your kindness and hard work, you should be very proud of yourselves.

Earlier this month, we were delighted to welcome a group of 14 students from a High School in Malaga, Spain.

They spent time getting to know our residents and their kindness, warmth and caring nature shone through. From singing, chatting to sharing stories and life experiences, they created some lovely memories of companionship.

Our residents absolutely loved their time with us and we are so grateful for the joy and energy they brought to St Joseph's.

The opening of our roof top garden. 🌻🌸🏵🌳

This afternoon our Mother Provencal officially cut the ribbon and opened our newly refurbished rooftop garden.

Despite the rain, we still managed a lovely walkabout and are already looking forward to spending sunny days relaxing and enjoying space together.

It was a joyful afternoon, made even more special by the wonderful entertainment from the Bus Pass Ukulele Group from Stockport. They were absolutely fabulous, keep us all foot tapping and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

A huge thank you to all who made the afternoon so special.
