Heat can have a huge impact on our mental health, not just our physical health.
When temperatures rise, you might notice:
Feeling exhausted or struggling to sleep
Becoming more irritable or overwhelmed
Increased anxiety or panic symptoms
Difficulty concentrating or thinking clearly
Lower mood and reduced motivation
A few gentle reminders during hot weather:
Keep sipping water throughout the day.
Stay in the shade or cool spaces where you can.
Use cool showers, damp flannels, or fans to help lower your body temperature.
Eat little and often if big meals feel too much.
Check in on friends, family, and neighbours who may be struggling.
Lower your expectations of yourself. It's okay if you're not as productive as usual.
If you're finding the heat difficult, be kind to yourself. Sometimes just getting through a hot day is enough.
Take it slow, stay hydrated, and remember: looking after your mental wellbeing is just as important as protecting your physical health in the heat.
