Headaches felt deep within the head, at the back of the eye and in the temples can be caused by restrictions in suboccipital muscles at the base of the skull.

Did you know that pain is not an accurate representation of what is happening in our bodies?

It is a protective mechanism of our brain and nervous system. It is there to help protect us from harm.

However, it is not exact and the external stimuli we encounter is filtered through our brains with all of our emotions, expectations and beliefs.

When pain persists for a long time and becomes chronic, it is usually because our brains have become over-protective. They have become accustomed to protecting us and got stuck in a loop, detecting threats where they no longer exist in an attempt to keep us safe.

This is why calming the nervous system is so important in treating chronic pain. When we feel safe, when our nervous systems are calm and we are not in fight or flight mode anymore, we can interupt this overprotective cycle and actually begin to heal 💚

Not everyone is able to lay flat on the table for a massage. If you need a seated treatment please get in touch with a few days notice so I can bring in my massage chair. The back of the table can also be lifted for a comfortable seated position meaning the whole body can be treated 😊

I'm now back at Jing School of Massage and Complimentary Medicine, stydying for years 2 & 3 of my BTEC level 6 qualification in Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage. There's so much to learn this year including Orthopedic Assessment, Working with Complex Pathologies and Rehabilitation, as well as adding to my existing skills in Myofascial Release.
So glad I know some incredible massage therapists as this is a lot of hard work and I will need LOTS of treatments so I don't end up feeling compeletely frazzled! 😵‍💫
