💚 Your mental health matters

Looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health.

Small things can make a difference:
🌿 Take some time for yourself
💬 Talk to someone you trust
😴 Make time for sleep and rest
🚶‍♀️ Get outside and stay active
❤️ Be kind to yourself — it’s okay not to be okay

If you're struggling or feel you need some support, please speak to your GP or a healthcare professional.

You don't have to manage things alone. 💚

🩺 HIGH OR LOW BLOOD PRESSURE — DO YOU KNOW THE SIGNS?

Blood pressure is an important part of your overall health. Both high and low blood pressure can affect how you feel, although high blood pressure often causes no symptoms at all.

🔴High blood pressure (hypertension can increase your risk of serious health problems such as heart disease, heart attack and stroke.

🔵 Low blood pressure (hypotension may cause symptoms such as dizziness, light-headedness, blurred vision, tiredness or fainting.

💡 The only way to know your blood pressure is to have it checked.Regular checks can help identify problems early.

❤️ You can help look after your blood pressure by:
• Eating a balanced diet and reducing salt
• Staying physically active
• Maintaining a healthy weight
• Not smoking
• Taking prescribed medication as advised

If you are concerned about your blood pressure or are experiencing symptoms, please contact your GP practice for advice.

🧠 Know the signs of meningitis – acting quickly can save lives.

Meningitis is an inflammation of the protective membranes around the brain and spinal cord. It can affect anyone, but babies, young children, teenagers and older adults are at greater risk.

Common symptoms can include:
• 🌡️ High temperature (fever)
• 🤕 Severe headache
• 💡 Sensitivity to light
• 🤢 Nausea or vomiting
• 😴 Drowsiness or difficulty waking
• 💪 Stiff neck
• 🔴 A rash that does not fade when a glass is rolled over it (this rash does not always appear)

Symptoms can develop quickly, so don't wait for them all to appear. If you are concerned that you or someone else may have meningitis, seek urgent medical advice immediately. In an emergency, call 999.

Vaccination is the best way to protect against many types of meningitis. Speak to your GP practice if you have any questions about the vaccines available for you or your child.

🌍 World Head and Neck Cancer Day

Today we're supporting World Head and Neck Cancer Day by raising awareness of the signs and symptoms that shouldn't be ignored.

Head and neck cancers can affect the mouth, throat, voice box, nose, sinuses and neck. Spotting symptoms early can make treatment more successful.

Speak to your GP or dentist if you experience symptoms lasting longer than 3 weeks, including:
👄 A mouth ulcer that doesn't heal
🗣️ A persistent sore throat or hoarse voice
🥣 Difficulty swallowing
🔎 A lump in the neck
⚪🔴 Red or white patches in the mouth

Most of these symptoms won't be cancer, but it's always important to get persistent changes checked.

Early diagnosis can save lives.
