💛 Building on the foundations we've created.

Over the past two years, Jak's World has been working alongside communities, partners and volunteers to improve wellbeing and help prevent su***de locally.

We're proud to share that, thanks to funding from National Lottery Community Fund, we're now able to expand our community wellbeing work and reach even more people.

This investment will enable us to continue delivering community-led wellbeing programmes that focus on connection, early intervention and building resilience before people reach crisis. It also allows us to strengthen partnerships and create more opportunities for people to access support closer to where they live.

Our long-term vision is clear:

To become a trusted community partner helping to deliver the Live Well vision in Ordsall and beyond.

📅 On 10 September, as part of World Su***de Prevention Day, we'll officially launch Hopeful Horizon – Winter (3rd Edition) and unveil our expanded programme of community wellbeing activities for the next 12 months.

This is more than a programme launch. It's another step towards creating stronger, healthier and more connected communities where people feel they belong and know where to turn for support.

Our project has been made possible thanks to players.

Finally, thank you to everyone who has supported Jak's World along the way. Whether you've partnered with us, volunteered, attended a session, referred someone, donated, or simply shared a conversation about hope, wellbeing and su***de prevention—you've helped us grow. We look forward to continuing this journey together.

💛 Together, we're building stronger communities where hope is always welcome.

🌿 Together We Relax – Week 5: Give 🌿

This week's EFT wellbeing workshop The Energise Healthy Living Centre focused on Give – one of the Five Ways to Wellbeing.

Together we explored what might be getting in the way of giving to ourselves or to others, and just as importantly, what might make it difficult for us to receive kindness, support, compassion or love.

It was an emotional session, but as always, a powerful one.

Over the past five weeks, we’ve watched people grow in confidence, support one another, practise self-compassion and discover new ways of looking at themselves and their relationships. Each week they continue to show up with openness, honesty and a willingness to learn.

A heartfelt thank you to every single person who has committed to this journey.
Thank you for your courage,
your vulnerability,
your kindness and the trust you've placed in both the group and yourselves.

Thank you for continuing to Connect, Take Notice, Be Active, Keep Learning and now Give.

Next week we'll come together one final time to reflect on our journey, celebrate how far we've come and create a personal wellbeing plan to take forward.

Earlier today, our Community Engagement Lead Kasia met with Green Party Councillor Shockley over coffee to discuss the importance of accessible, community-based mental health support and our vision for a Community Wellbeing Centre in Ordsall.

Just hours later, Burnham today's announcement about expanding community mental health services reinforced why these conversations matter. We welcome any investment that helps people access support earlier and closer to home.

Politics aside, Ordsall residents deserve Community Wellbeing Centre and we hope that we can work together towards common goals and offer safe space for everyone in Salford.

People must come first. We all have Mental Health. Su***de affects us all.

At Jak's World, we've had similar conversations with Rebecca Long Bailey Brendan Keville for Ordsall and Bev Craig for Greater Manchester Mayor , and we'll continue to engage with anyone who wants to work together towards a common goal.

We remain hopeful that one day Ordsall will have a welcoming Community Wellbeing Centre where people can access support, build connections and feel they belong.
We are hopeful today 💛

““Today, we’re announcing a major expansion of NHS mental health services so people can get help earlier and closer to home. This includes 100 new community mental health centres, where people with severe needs can walk in without a referral and get support without waiting months. In addition, we’re setting up 59 dedicated mental health emergency departments, giving people in crisis fast, same-day specialist care.”
