This Week in Superhero Training! 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️

​It has been an action-packed week as our little heroes took on some incredible missions! Here is a look at what we have been up to:

- ​Hero Training Obstacle Course – Testing our agility and speed!
- ​The "Laser Web" Obstacle – Navigating our way through the tricky web.
- ​DIY Hero Masks – Crafting our own to look the part.

🌧️ What a weather-packed week we've had! 🌈
​Our little explorers have been learning all about rain, rivers, and the water cycle through lots of hands-on fun
​
- Welly Walks & Nature Umbrellas: We discovered how trees keep us dry from the drizzle, splashed in puddles, spotted lakes and rivers, and even visited Edenfield Waterfall!
- ​Water Science: We measured rainfall in our weekly jug (staying under 100ml!), explored evaporation and precipitation, and watched water evaporate in our homemade water scenes.
-​Creative Play: We built dens from sticks, played with sponge "clouds," painted with primary colours to mix secondary shades, and talked about how rainbows are formed.

​From brave waterfall explorations to learning big scientific words outdoors, we've had an amazing week of muddy, weather-loving adventures! 🌳💧✨

Beat the Heat! ☀️🕶️

​This week, we’ve been learning all about the sun, the heat, and how we can keep ourselves safe while still having fun! Through a mix of science, art, and play, here is how we explored sun safety:
​💧 Ice Sphere Science: We used frozen ice spheres to see how the hot sun quickly melts things away—helping us understand the effects of heat on our own bodies and the importance of staying hydrated!
​🎨 Sunprint Art: By placing objects on colored construction paper and leaving them in the sunshine, we watched the sun fade the paper. It was a perfect visual of the sun's power and how staying in the shade keeps us safe and protected.
​🍪 'Suncream' Cover-Up: We practiced "protecting" our delicious gingerbread men by painting them with "suncream" (icing!). Safe and yummy!
​🎩 The Great Hat Match-Up: We explored all different kinds of hats and compared them to see which ones offer the very best protection from the bright sun.
​🖌️ Water Painting: We painted beautiful patterns on the floor with water, only to watch in amazement as the sun quickly "zapped" the water away, drying the ground right before our eyes!

​What a busy, bright, and safe week in the sun! Remember your hats and water bottles this summer! 🧊💦

🏴‍☠️Shiver me timbers! 🦜

Our little crew has had the most arrr-mazing time exploring our Pirates and Islands theme this week!
​Here’s a peek at what our brave explorers got up to:
​🗺️ Map Making: We looked at UK maps, drew our own, and tea-stained and scrunched them to look authentically old!
🌿 Nature Walk: After a treasure hunt story, we marched to our local nature reserve on a quest for something special armed with binoculars, magnifying glasses and a treasure basket
🪵 Walking the Plank: We practiced our balancing skills by bravely walking the plank over "shark-infested" waters.
🪙 Garden Coin Hunt: We hunted for hidden gold coins, using "Land ahoy" and "You’re out at sea" clues to test our listening skills. We all shouted "Treasure island" when the coins were found
🌊 Small World Play: We created our own mini sea scenes to explore and tell pirate stories.

🦖 We became Pantosaurus experts! 🦖
​We’ve been busy learning all about our bodies and the importance of personal privacy. Through our Pantosaurus story, songs, and some hands-on practice with our friend Willow the doll, the children have been exploring some very important lessons:
​✨ My Body Belongs to Me: We practiced our strong "Pantosaurus" voices and learned that our private parts are just that—private!
✨ Secrets vs. Surprises: We talked about how happy surprises (like Father’s Day gifts) are meant to be shared, while "secrets" that make us feel uncomfortable should always be told to a trusted adult.
✨ Privacy in Action: We used Willow to talk about appropriate clothing and why we need privacy when changing our clothes or nappies. We also practiced giving our friends space and privacy when they are getting changed.
​It’s been a wonderful, empowering week of learning, setting boundaries, and understanding who we can trust. We are so proud of how confidently the children shared their thoughts!
