As I celebrate four years of my Ayurveda practice in the UK, I find myself reflecting on one of the most meaningful lessons my patients have taught me.

When I first started my practice, I believed success meant helping my Ayurvedic patients recover so well that they would never need to see me again.

So I often found myself saying:
"I hope you get better soon, so you won't need me anymore."

One of them smiled and replied,
"Didn't you tell me that Ayurveda isn't just about healing illness, but also about maintaining health? Even when I'm better, I'll still come to see you."

That conversation changed the way I viewed my work.

Ayurveda isn't a destination you reach when your symptoms disappear. It is a way of life that helps restore balance, prevent illness, and support your health for years to come.

Four years later, that person is still with me, not because they are unwell, but because they chose to prioritise their health before illness had a chance to return.

Since then, I've had the privilege of supporting many Ayurvedic patients who continue with regular Ayurvedic consultations and Abhyanga (Ayurvedic therapeutic massage), not because they need treatment, but because they value feeling healthy, balanced, and resilient.

As I celebrate this milestone, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has trusted me with their health. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your wellness journey. Your trust means more than words can express.

If you've been waiting until your health becomes a problem before seeking support, perhaps this is your reminder that prevention is one of the greatest forms of self-care.

Your health deserves attention before illness demands it.

If you're looking for personalised Ayurvedic care in Manchester for stress, digestive health, hormonal balance, chronic pain, skin concerns, or simply to support your long-term wellbeing, I would be honoured to support you.

One of the things I love most about Shiatsu is how adaptable it is. 💚

Traditionally, Shiatsu is given with the receiver lying on a futon (a mat on the floor), but every person is different, and every treatment can be adapted to suit their needs.

In this photo, I'm giving Shiatsu on a massage table. During the pandemic, I met clients in the park, where they relaxed on a picnic blanket in the sunshine. I've also given Shiatsu to clients in their 90s while they rested comfortably in their own beds.

And perhaps the most unusual location of all? An airport bench!

The setting may change, but the intention remains the same: to create a space where you can relax, reconnect, and support your body's natural balance.

Wherever you are, Shiatsu can meet you there. ✨

When You Don't Feel It, Your Body Does

Suppressed emotions can influence: • Digestion • Sleep • Energy • Food cravings • Emotional resilience
The body often carries what the mind avoids.

Vata: When Emotions Become Anxiety
Common emotions: Fear, worry, grief
When suppressed: • Overthinking • Poor sleep • Irregular digestion • Feeling ungrounded
Support: Routine, warm nourishing meals, grounding practices, and gentle emotional expression.

Pitta: When Emotions Become Heat
Common emotions: Anger, frustration, resentment
When suppressed: • Irritability • Gut or skin sensitivity • Inflammation • Perfectionism
Support: Cooling routines, balanced meals, rest, and healthy emotional expression.

Kapha: When Emotions Become Heaviness
Common emotions: Sadness, grief, attachment
When suppressed: • Emotional numbness • Low motivation • Comfort eating • Resistance to change
Support: Daily movement, lighter foods, and regular emotional release.

Your Lifestyle Shapes Your Emotional Health
Your emotions are influenced by your daily habits.
✓ Food nourishes the mind. ✓ Sleep restores resilience. ✓ Movement releases tension. ✓ Routine creates stability.

Emotional Resilience Isn't Suppression
Resilience means allowing emotions to move through you, not controlling or avoiding them.
It grows through: • Consistent routines • Nervous system regulation • Self-awareness • Supportive food and lifestyle

The Ayurvedic Perspective
When emotions remain unprocessed: • Vata becomes chaotic • Pitta becomes reactive • Kapha becomes stagnant
The good news? The same habits that create imbalance can also restore balance.

Healing Begins with Awareness
You don't need to stop feeling.
You need a body and lifestyle that can safely process what you feel.
Awareness → Lifestyle → Expression → Balance.
