For those of you this affects we think you already know or have a plan in place. If not, worth taking a look at what Diabetes UK suggests below.

Last summer, the Government issued an alert to healthcare professionals about the discontinuation of Levemir insulin by pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk, by the end of 2026.

While some people will have already switched to an alternative insulin, some may not have done so yet.

If you still take Levemir, and do not already have a diabetes appointment scheduled before the end of November 2026, please contact your diabetes team to arrange this appointment.

They'll be able to ensure your insulin switch is managed safely, while stocks of Levemir are still available.

There's no immediate action required beyond arranging your review.

PenCycle with us for FREE!

It’s really easy to recycle your Novo Nordisk pre-filled pens, just follow the steps below:

💊Collect a FREE PenCycle return box from us.

💊Remove the needle from your EMPTY pen and dispose of this in a sharps bin. DO NOT put the needle in the returns box.

💊Place the empty pen in your return box. Each box can hold up to 12 pens so try and fill the box before returning it.

💊When the box is full return it to us for recycling or post it to Novo Nordisk.

💊Collect another FREE empty PenCycle box and repeat.

The scheme is only valid for Novo Nordisk pre-filled pen products. Pens made by other manufacturers, insulin pumps and insulin vials cannot currently be recycled through the PenCycle scheme.
