Very good
"A rescheduled appointment, the lady who rang to change my appointment was pleasant and helpful, a smile from the receptionist when I arrived and an excellent Doctor who listened and I knew that I was getting the best care and treatment. Thank you."
"Dr Jack Martin is a very good listener, and communicator. I have felt that I frequently fell through the cracks with other services. I now feel reassured, I am not facing this horrible thing alone. I feel like a person, not just a process, or set of symptoms. Front of house as always, very personable. A million miles away from stereotype Dr Receptionists. It feels like a team effort, where I matter. Thank you"
"I was informed when I booked in that there was a short delay in my appointment time. The doctor communicated clearly and involved me in all decisions and had agreed outcomes. Information of what to do if …….. was very clear and was checked to ensure I understood"
"The reception team were very friendly, arranged my daughter appointment quickly and the doctor I saw was very knowledgeable and sorted the problem very quickly - couldn’t fault any part of the process"
"Excellent nurse. Took time to explain everything. Skilled at procedure that was quick and painless."
"The GP listened to me, explained her rationale for her prescribing decisions and made me feel at ease and listened to. I think Gatley Medical is a fantastic practice"

Good
"Good communication - questioning of symptoms and explanation of next steps"
"Felt listened too, clear explanations ,not rushed and went that one step beyond"
"Staff was very helpful and gave me good advice"
"All on time - professional and helpful staff."
"The doctor was very thorough and helpful"

Very poor/ Poor
"I ended up rescheduling my appointment as I was left waiting for around 40 minutes"
"The practice really needs a patient Wi-Fi in the waiting area, as phone signal is atrocious"

Neither good nor poor
"The waiting time was behind and I was the first appointment"
"For a quiet time of day, the car park was full…"

"Everyone was very attentive, and the doctor who treated me was very helpful, attentive, and concerned that I understood the menopause treatment she prescribed. Most importantly, she used translation."
"You have given me the best service the staff on reception always look after me and are very friendly and the doctors are so professional and caring to me."

Good
"Quick turnaround from using the website till getting an appointment"
"Dr was pleasant and polite, rang within timescale expected"
"I was made welcome and put at ease . I was listened to and my comments and worries noted."
"It was easy to check in after which I was seen within minutes. Lovely professional staff."
"Very friendly receptionist and bloods were taken quickly"

Very poor/ Poor
"4 weeks is too long to wait for a blood test"
"Appointment was late. A text to say the doctor was running very late would have been useful."
"Waiting area upstairs was very warm, and fan not working. Others past comment on heat. "

Neither good nor poor
"Never enough time is given for appointments to address issues I want to talk about. Give more time to really listen."
"Good discussion with the doctor who gave advice, reassurance and a plan. Waiting time was awful. My appointment started later than it should have"

To try and improve our patient experience we have set up more fans in the waiting rooms to try and address the ongoing heat.

We have trained up a new phlebotomist who can help our current staff with the blood test appointments to try and address our patients wait times.

Unfortunately, we are unable to send a text to patients to inform them of when doctors telephone appointments are running late, if you have any concerns please call reception and we can try our best to advise on your telephone appointment. We try to let patients in the practice when checking in if their appointments going to be late.

To our patients, this is a note from the Stockport’s Public Health Team during recent wildfires in Greater Manchester.

We’re aware that being able to see and smell smoke across Greater Manchester from the recent wildfires can feel alarming.
As wind directions change it means that smoke pockets move around, which is why some days may feel more smoky than others.
For most people the smoke and the odour from it won’t be an issue. However, for some people, especially if you already have a breathing condition, it can cause coughing and wheezing as well as irritation to eyes and skin.
If the smoke is affecting you please keep your windows closed and open for ventilation once the smoke passes.
If you feel like your breathing has become difficult or is affecting a condition like asthma, then please do get in touch with a medical service for advice.
This is also coinciding with a period of very hot weather, so please remember to follow (where possible) the UKHSA Heat Health advice which can be found Beat the heat: staying safe in hot weather - GOV.UK
Thank you for your time as we all look forward to the smoke clearing. It will pass, even if it takes a little longer and it is being monitored by national experts.
• Residents should continue to avoid areas affected by wildfire smoke where possible. If smoke is visible, stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed. Follow updates from local authorities and media.
• Those with pre-existing conditions such as asthma, COPD, heart or lung conditions should continue to follow health advice. Everyone is advised to take sensible precautions and avoid strenuous outdoor activities when smoke is present.
• Smoke odours can be unpleasant and may cause stress or anxiety. Some people may also experience symptoms such as headaches, dizziness or nausea, even when the substances causing the smell are not harmful to health.
• Please continue to monitor official updates and take steps to minimise exposure to smoke where possible

Please share this message with any patients / carers who you feel would find this useful.

Thanks Sylvia & team.
