đ All you have to do⌠is be you.
Sounds simple, doesnât it?
But for so many of us, itâs actually one of the bravest things weâll ever do.
We spend years trying to fit inâŚ
⨠We stay quiet so we donât upset anyone.
⨠We apologise for things that arenât our fault.
⨠We compare ourselves to people on social media.
⨠We worry about what others think.
⨠We change who we are to be accepted.
Before we know it, weâve become so busy trying to be what everyone else wants⌠weâve forgotten who we are.
The irony?
The people who truly love you wonât love a version of you thatâs trying to please everyone.
Theyâll love the real you.
The one who laughs too loudly.
The one whoâs a little bit quirky.
The one who sometimes gets it wrong.
The one who cries at adverts. đââď¸
The one whoâs still learning.
The one whoâs perfectly imperfect.
As a therapist, one of the most beautiful things I witness is someone slowly letting go of the masks theyâve worn for years.
The people-pleaser starts saying âno.â
The overthinker starts trusting themselves.
The anxious person starts believing they are enough.
And thatâs when the magic happens. đ
Iâve learnt something over the years tooâŚ
Iâm not everyoneâs cup of tea⌠and thatâs okay.
Some people will love my honesty and humour.
Others will prefer someone completely different.
Neither is wrong.
Because we were never meant to be liked by everyone.
We were meant to be ourselves.
â¤ď¸ So todayâs reminder is thisâŚ
You donât need to be funnier.
Smarter.
Thinner.
Busier.
More successful.
Or more like somebody else.
The world already has them.
It only has one you.
Because being yourself isnât easy⌠but itâs always worth it. đ
đ Iâd love to knowâŚ
Whatâs one thing youâve stopped apologising for or hiding about yourself as youâve got older?
Iâll go firstâŚ
Mine is my daft sense of humour. đ
I used to worry about being âtoo muchâ or âtoo daft.â Now I realise itâs one of the things that helps people feel relaxed in my therapy room.
đđ Your turn!
