Just *some* important things to remember about inductions (thats your doctors may not tell you😅)
🌸 Evidence highlights that induction of labour is associated with a cascade of medical intervention (example: continuous electronic fetal monitoring, pain relief meds, epidurals, instrumental deliveries and csections). So if you’re hoping for a fully natural physiological no intervention birth, bear this in mind…
🌸 As EVER, everything related to your pregnancy and birth care is an offer, including induction. It’s not mandatory and you always have a choice. You can ask the questions, ask for the benefits and risks, weigh up your options, ask for more time… Even an induction is an *offer* even if it doesn’t seem it.
🌸 Many women find the contractions caused by cervical ripening methods (which are at the first stage of induction) become really sharp really quickly, without having any measurable effect. This intensity can make it easier to become tired or disillusioned more quickly compared to spontaneous labour, where your body naturally provides resting periods between contractions - vs induced labour which can cause contractions to be stronger, longer, more frequent without natural resting intervals.
As ever… Remember that if you decide to go ahead and have an induction for labour - ensuring it’s an informed decision is the most important!💖
