One of the great tragedies of modern healing is that we’ve created an entire culture organised around the endless management of experience.

And we believe that at the end of all this effort and constant doing-to the content of our experience, we will finally discover the peace and freedom we long for.

An entire generation becoming increasingly sophisticated at managing experience while remaining fundamentally bound by it.

But no amount of self-improvement can free the self that believes itself to be incomplete.

No amount of healing can satisfy an identity organised around constant becoming.

And no amount of managing experience can liberate the one whose entire sense of self is built upon the need to manage experience.

🌹My work does not help you become better at controlling, fixing, managing, regulating, releasing, or optimising the contents of your experience.

Nor does it offer more sophisticated strategies for the self to continue its endless project of becoming.

My work is the loving and precise dismantling of the conditioned filters through which we have learned to perceive ourselves, others, and reality itself.

The inherited ways of knowing yourself and the world that keep you busy rearranging the furniture in the same room.

The entire architecture through which the past continues to recreate itself in the present.

Because true freedom is never found through better management.

🌀It appears as we outgrow the consciousness that made management seem necessary.

Most people never actually experience their emotions.

I know that sounds ridiculous.

Of course you’re experiencing them(!!!).

They’re right there.

The anxiety.
The fear.
The shame.

But look a little closer…

Most of the time we are not experiencing the fact of our experience.

We’re experiencing our interpretation of our experience.

We’re experiencing the story about the feeling.

The history of the feeling.

The implications of the feeling.

The conclusions we’ve learned to draw from the feeling.

And because this process is so automatic, so deeply conditioned, we rarely notice it’s happening.

We assume we’re in direct contact with reality.

But we’re often in contact with memory.

With thought.

With a conceptual version of what is here.

Learning to come into direct intimacy with experience itself changed everything for me.

And these are three questions that helped me do it.

Emotional freedom doesn’t come from finally getting rid of every difficult feeling.

It comes from learning how to feel prior to the story.

Prior to memory.

Prior to interpretation.

Because it is there, in direct contact with experience itself, that we discover something extraordinary:

What we’ve spent years calling fear, shame, anxiety, grief, or overwhelm is often nothing like the painful emotional object we’ve imagined it to be.

And that intimacy changes everything.

Save this so you can return to these questions the next time you find yourself in the grip of an overwhelming emotion.

🦋And tell me in the comments:Which question landed most deeply for you?

So many of us are living our lives like the man in this story.

A feeling appears….And before we’ve even made contact with what’s actually here, the mind rushes in:

Why am I feeling this?
Where did this come from?
What does this MEAN???
How do I get rid of it?
How do I heal it?
How do I stop it happening again?

And these questions feel intelligent, they feel productive. They feel like healing.

But often they are something else entirely; a strategy.

A way of relating to experience through concepts rather than through direct contact.

The mind becomes so busy trying to understand the feeling that we never actually meet the feeling itself.

We do the same thing with thoughts….A thought appears.
And immediately we begin analysing it.
Why am I thinking this?
What does this thought mean?
How do I stop thinking this?
How do I control my mind????

Meanwhile, we remain trapped in the very thing we’re trying to escape:

The endless conceptualisation of our experience.

The known meeting the known. Memory interpreting memory.

The past recreating itself on a new day.

And this is why so much healing can become a hall of mirrors.

Because true emotional freedom is not found in endlessly trying to FIGURE YOURSELF OUT.

It’s found in developing such a deep intimacy with your experience that the mind’s commentary is no longer required.

My work exists to help people stop trying to resolve their experience from inside the very structure that is creating it.

In this work, we don’t get better at explaining ourselves.
We begin to loosen the very structure that has been organising our experience all along.

And from there, the freedom and aliveness we long for naturally begins to reveal itself.

The endless search for psychological safety may be one of the greatest barriers to freedom.

Because it is built on a promise that can never be fulfilled:

“If I can just heal enough…
understand enough…
control enough…
avoid enough discomfort…
resolve enough uncertainty…

then finally I will arrive at the aliveness I long for.”

But what the mind calls safety is usually familiarity.

The known.

A today that looks enough like yesterday not to destabilise the familiar self.

The same neurochemical atmosphere of me.

And so we spend our lives trying to recreate the known whilst wondering why we feel so stuck.

Because life is never found in the known.

Life is movement.

Life is emergence.

Life is what appears when we stop demanding that reality conform to yesterday.

Most people think they are seeking safety.

What they are really seeking is relief from the tension of being the self they currently take themselves to be.

Because the self organised around fear will always seek certainty.

The self organised around lack will always seek completion.

The self organised around separation will always seek safety.

And yet none of those things can ever satisfy it.

Because what you long for is not the successful management of experience.

What you long for is the aliveness that remains when you stop mistaking yourself for a contraction.

You do not want safety nearly as much as you think you do.

🪽✨You want freedom from the self that believes it must endlessly seek it.
