Glucose test morning šŸ„¤šŸ¤°šŸ¼

17 weeks pregnant and having my glucose tolerance test today. First bloods done, glucose drink down… and honestly, it wasn’t even that bad šŸ˜‚

Now I just have to sit and wait. I told the lovely nurse I was getting bored and that I’m a PT, so obviously I was going to start doing push-ups and squats… she was having none of it šŸ˜‚

They were running behind with urgent walk-ins, but she was so sweet and we had a little giggle. ā¤ļø

Reminder to be kind to healthcare staff — they’re doing their best, even when things get hectic. 🄰

Now… back to sitting still! šŸ˜‚

It’s a boy. šŸ’™

I genuinely thought I didn’t mind whether we had a boy or a girl.

Then we found out… and I cried.

Not because I’m disappointed. I’m so happy he’s a boy.

I just didn’t realise there were feelings underneath it all that I hadn’t allowed myself to feel.

So I’ve written about it — the grief, the guilt, the happiness, and the little girl I may never have. ā¤ļø Full post over on Substack. šŸ’™ https://open.substack.com/pub/lydiapalmerwellbeing31/p/i-thought-i-didnt-mind?r=8vxn03&utm_medium=ios

Pregnant again. Seven years later. šŸ¤

I’m 16 weeks pregnant with my second baby.

I was already a personal trainer and pre- & postnatal qualified during my first pregnancy — but seven years of motherhood, life and experience have changed my perspective.

This time, I’m experiencing pregnancy from both sides: as a mum-to-be and as a pre- & postnatal trainer.

I’m sharing what I’m learning about pregnancy, training, body changes and wellbeing along the way.

I’ve written my first piece on Substack — link in bio. šŸ¤ https://open.substack.com/pub/lydiapalmerwellbeing31/p/pregnant-again-seven-years-later?r=8vxn03&utm_medium=ios

Pregnancy has humbled me šŸ¤

The last few weeks have been really tough. Pregnancy rhinitis, migraines, exhaustion… and alongside that, a couple of scares with bleeding meant I’ve had to slow right down and be much more cautious.

For someone who is used to moving, training, lifting and looking after others, having to take a step back has been mentally challenging too.

Then over the last couple of days, something has shifted.

I woke up this morning and thought… ā€œWow, I feel good.ā€

My energy is coming back, my head feels clearer, and I feel more like me again.

It’s amazing how quickly things can change.

Today I’m taking the kids up to Edale for a walk. Fresh air, movement, a change of scenery and making memories together.

This has reminded me that wellbeing isn’t about pushing through everything. Sometimes it’s about listening, adapting and trusting your body through the seasons.

A little reminder that even the harder chapters do pass šŸ¤ pregnancy

The last few weeks have completely changed my perspective on wellbeing.

As a personal trainer, I’ve always associated wellbeing with lifting weights, moving my body and feeling strong. But at 14 weeks pregnant, alongside living with axial spondyloarthritis, migraines and overwhelming fatigue, my body has asked for something different.

And honestly, this pregnancy has felt very different to my pregnancy with Noah. When I was pregnant with him, I remember feeling much more physically capable and like I could just keep going. This time, my body has asked me to slow down, listen and accept a different pace.

The last week alone has brought pregnancy migraines, pregnancy rhinitis, swollen glands, a scare that threatened my pregnancy, and the challenge of adjusting my medication for axial SpA while pregnant.

There have been moments of fear, frustration, sadness and uncertainty. I’ve had to let go of the belief that strength always means pushing through.

Right now, wellbeing looks different. It’s gentle walks, nourishing meals, hydration, rest and self-compassion.

This has been one of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt as a PT, wellbeing coach and trainee counsellor: strength isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes strength is slowing down, listening to your body and trusting what it needs in the season you’re in.

Your wellbeing doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. šŸ¤

Lately, I’ve been training without music… and I’ve realised I actually prefer it.

There’s something really powerful about lifting in silence. You notice your breathing, your posture, your tempo, and your technique. You’re more present with every rep instead of rushing through the session or getting distracted by the next song.

It’s become a form of mindfulness for me.

Don’t get me wrong—music definitely has its place. If you’re chasing a PB, need an energy boost, or want that extra motivation, the right playlist can make all the difference.

But not every workout has to be high intensity.

On slower training days, or when I’m focusing on movement quality, I’ll either embrace the silence or listen to a podcast. It helps me stay calm, intentional, and connected to what my body actually needs.

Sometimes the best progress comes from slowing down, tuning in, and giving your full attention to the movement—not the noise.

Have you ever trained without music? Did you love it or hate it? šŸ‘‡

Congratulations! šŸ’›

One thing I’ve realised since becoming pregnant is that everyone asks about the baby… but very few people ask, ā€œHow are you?ā€

As a Personal Trainer, Wellbeing Coach and trainee counsellor, I spend my days encouraging others to look after themselves. I eat well, I move my body, I prioritise sleep where I can, and I genuinely value my health.

And yet…

Some days, pregnancy feels hard.

The headaches that won’t shift.
The exhaustion.
The blocked nose.
The moments where I don’t quite feel like myself.
The frustration of wanting to do more, but recognising my body needs something different.

I’ve realised it’s not just the physical symptoms that are difficult. It’s grieving, even temporarily, the version of yourself that felt energetic, capable and in control.

Here’s what I’m learning:

šŸ¤ I don’t have to ā€œpush throughā€ to prove I’m strong.
šŸ¤ Rest is productive when your body is growing a human.
šŸ¤ Looking after yourself sometimes means doing less, not more.
šŸ¤ You can be deeply grateful for your pregnancy and still find it incredibly hard.

Those two things can exist together.

If you’re pregnant and you’re struggling, please know this…

You are not doing pregnancy wrong.

You don’t have to love every minute.
You don’t have to pretend you’re okay.
You don’t have to earn your worth by continuing as if nothing has changed.

Today, my goal isn’t to be my most productive self.

It’s simply to care for myself as well as I can.

If this resonates with you, I’d love to know—what’s something about pregnancy that nobody prepared you for? šŸ’›

✨ A very special update from our little family ✨

Martin and I are so excited to finally share that we’re expecting a baby! šŸ¤šŸ‘¶

I’m now 13 weeks pregnant, and our little one is due on 21st January. 🄰

Our family is growing, and we feel so incredibly grateful to be starting this next chapter. Our other little ones are already so excited to welcome a new addition, and we can’t wait to see our family grow. ā¤ļø

As a personal trainer and wellbeing coach, I’m passionate about helping others feel strong, healthy and confident in their own bodies — and now I get to experience a whole new kind of strength and change myself. ✨

I’ll be embracing this journey, listening to my body, staying active in a way that feels right, and sharing some of it with you along the way.

For my amazing clients, it’s business as usual. My personal training sessions, wellbeing coaching and dog walking/sitting will all continue as normal, and I’m so grateful for your continued support and encouragement. šŸ’›

Thank you for being part of my journey — I can’t wait to share this next chapter with you all. 🄰

Let’s go tell your story… šŸ¤

Behind every person is a story — the challenges, the lessons, the moments that shaped us and the steps we’ve taken to become who we are today.

For me, fitness has always been about so much more than exercise. It’s about people. It’s about confidence, connection, wellbeing and helping others believe in themselves.

Every conversation, every small achievement, every person who walks through the door has a story worth hearing.

I’d love to hear yours… what’s shaped you, what keeps you going, and what are you proud of?

Because every story matters. ✨

This morning’s workout looked a little different… šŸ’Ŗāš½

I was catching up on the England vs Mexico game from last night with my son and my partner, so I split my training around it.

šŸ‹ļøā€ā™€ļø First half: dumbbell circuits.
šŸš¶ā€ā™€ļø Second half: power walk on my walking pad.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that looking after your health doesn’t have to be all or nothing. It’s about finding ways to make movement fit your life, not the other way around.

My walking pad has been a great addition because it gives me options. If it’s too hot outside, the weather’s rubbish, or I’m home with the family, I can still get my steps in without missing out on time together.

Consistency always beats perfection.

If you’ve been waiting for the ā€œperfectā€ time to start exercising, this is your reminder that there isn’t one. Start where you are, use what you’ve got, and keep showing up. Those small, consistent choices really do add up.

If you’re ready to build healthy habits that actually fit around your real life, I’d love to help. Drop me a message and let’s chat. šŸ’š
