🌿 Plant spirit meditation
🌿 Creating your own Elder talisman to take home

There will be time to slow down, listen, create and simply be with Elder.

The briar patch 🫐🐝🌱🌳

Why isn’t there a blackberry emoji? Surely that’s a must.

I love the wildness of my little little blackberry briar and how all of the herbs, plants and trees just work together to make this nature haven.

We want to remove the garage so that I can have a workspace in the garden. This is really exciting but I don’t like to upset nature so I find making changes like this quite difficult.

I’m sharing this to show you how it is now and hopefully to see how nature thrives even more once we have made changes and added even more plants for nature. We can’t do that until we take down the garage.

Maybe I will do a post and show you the whole thing. I get quite anxious about nature being cut back and my Elder is close and she won’t like any workmen touching her without respect.

I guess I will have to oversee the project. I’m sure the workmen won’t mind! my old kitty Ku used to do this whenever we had any work done 🐈 he would go out and walk around them and cast his judging eyes over their work.

Is it just me? Or does anyone else struggle with this?

Last month, I spent time sitting with meadowsweet in my plant medicine circle. Although it’s a herb I’ve known for years, working with a plant one-to-one always reveals something new.

I’ve long loved meadowsweet as a digestive herb, especially for acid reflux. A friend once called it “a hug in a mug,” and that has always felt exactly right.

I took my tea ceremony to the headland at Porth in Cornwall. Surrounded by sea and sky, I felt an immediate sense of peace. Then my attention was drawn to ivy climbing a wall. The ivy was strong, but it was the wall that gave it the support to flourish.

That felt like meadowsweet’s message.

Strength doesn’t always come from enduring alone. Sometimes it comes from allowing ourselves to be supported.

Later, the plant gently nudged me to go inside before the rain came. I listened. Moments later the heavens opened, and as I rested, I experienced a profound sense of healing, peace and trust.

Meadowsweet is renowned for soothing the digestive tract, calming excess acidity and supporting gut healing. As someone living with rheumatoid arthritis, I’ve become increasingly interested in the connection between gut health and autoimmune conditions, and this beautiful plant has become part of my own daily ritual of care.

One of my favourite things about the plant medicine circles is when others share their experiences with plants. This is how we learn and grow together. Have you met Meadowsweet? What has the plant told you?

It’s like watching a whole other magical world. I find watching the butterflies dance medicine for my soul. I like to get right down on the grass with them so they get used to me and continue in their joy. I’m getting in nature whenever I can, even if just for a minute. I can feel my nervous system calming down and my joy and love radiating 🥰

Solstice Blessings to you all ☀️ I hope these light codes fill your hearts with peace and joy.

The St John’s Wort has exploded overnight and is coming into full force. I’ve had a lovely morning communing with nature and finally I have had the chance to harvest the Lemonbalm. Lemonbalm is really lovely to tincture from the fresh herb just before she pops into flower. That’s when her volatile oils are at their peak. It’s taken me a while to make my own Lemonbalm tincture as I didn’t want to take away the flowers from the bees but I finally have enough plants to justify it to myself 😊 it made such a lovely tincture last year I found it hard to use it too 🤣 the plants have been reassuring me that there is enough for all 🥰🙏🌱

This week’s Plant Medicine Circle was devoted to Elderflower, and what a beautiful evening it was. 🌿✨

Together we explored Elder’s medicine, folklore, spirit, and teachings. Again and again, one message emerged:

Love. Belonging. Community. Connection.

Elder reminded us that she has never truly left us. From elderflower cordials to elderberry remedies, she remains woven into our lives, quietly supporting us as she has for generations.

If you’d like to deepen your relationship with the plants, explore plant spirit medicine, and journey with a different plant ally each month, I’d love to welcome you to our next circle.

Because healing happens in community, and we all belong. 💛

A little reflection from a herbalist’s morning wander amongst the plants. 🌿

I was drawn to the tiny wild strawberries nestled amongst the plants, growing quietly beside Melissa (Lemon Balm), and then noticed a small Vervain seedling emerging nearby.

Vervain has been one of the most important herbs on my own journey to wellness. She helped me gently reconnect with my emotions, supporting me to feel and process them at a pace that felt safe and manageable.

I am fascinated by the many ways that plants support us on a deep emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical level. They can help us gently navigate emotional wounds, old conditioning, learned behaviours, and unresolved traumas, supporting us as we move towards greater awareness, understanding, and healing. To me, that is truly profound.

In my experience, what we see in the body is often the final expression of something that has been unfolding on deeper levels for some time. Understanding how we hold, process, and move through our emotions can be such an important part of healing.

Has there been a plant ally that has walked alongside you during a challenging time? 🌱✨

Such a beautiful time in my own garden harvesting elderflower. It’s the tree that just keeps giving. I’ve formed such a special bond with this tree this year as I’ve lovingly removed a lot of honeysuckle that was climbing and swallowing the Elder.

The dryad of the tree has paid me back in an abundance of the flowers. I keep picking them and they keep coming. I’m being very mindful of leaving lots so that I get berries and there’s a huge amount left for the birds and insects. It’s magic ✨🙏💗
