Lola’s case is a powerful reminder of how important early detection can be 🐾

After being diagnosed with heartworm disease, her owners acted quickly to begin treatment—an essential step, as heartworm can be a serious and potentially life-threatening condition if left untreated.

Thanks to their commitment and timely care, Lola has completed treatment and is now on the path to a full recovery. With proper follow-up and prevention, she’s expected to enjoy a long, happy, and healthy life 🤍

A great outcome for a very deserving girl—and a reminder to us all to stay up to date with routine testing and prevention.

Healthy teeth = healthier pets 🦷🐶🐱

These before-and-after photos are a reminder of how important dental care is for our pets. From staining and mild tartar buildup to severe dental disease requiring full mouth extractions, dental problems can progress quickly when left untreated.

Dental disease is one of the most common health issues in dogs and cats, and it can affect more than just their breath. Poor dental health may lead to pain, difficulty eating, infections, and even problems with the heart, liver, and kidneys. In these cases:
• One dog showed noticeable staining that improved greatly with professional dental cleaning ✨
• One cat had mild tartar buildup — a small issue now that could become much more serious over time 🐱
• Another dog suffered from severe dental disease and required total mouth extractions to relieve chronic pain and infection 💔➡️❤️

Regular dental care — including brushing, dental treats, professional cleanings, and routine checkups — helps keep your pet comfortable, healthy, and pain-free.

Signs your pet may need a dental checkup:
• Bad breath
• Yellow or brown buildup on teeth
• Red or bleeding gums
• Trouble chewing or loss of appetite
• Pawing at the mouth

A healthy mouth is an important part of overall wellness. Don’t wait until dental disease becomes severe — prevention and early treatment make all the difference 🪥✨

Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases are becoming more and more common. At Village Centre alone, we have already had 8 patients test positive for Lyme disease so far this year. Ticks are often at their most active from late March until mid-May. Even in the winter months ticks are a serious threat, searching for hosts in temperatures as low as 0 degrees. This is why we recommend using tick prevention all year round.
