💙🤍 Happy Yorkshire Day!

Today we're celebrating everything that makes Yorkshire such a special place – its rich history, proud heritage and wonderful communities.

Did you know? Yorkshire Day was first established in 1975 by the Yorkshire Ridings Society to celebrate the county and mark its historic identity following the local government changes of 1974.

The date, 1st August, was chosen to commemorate the Battle of Minden, traditionally marked by the wearing of a rose in military headdresses , and it also marks the anniversary of the emancipation of slaves in the British Empire in 1834 , championed by Yorkshire MP William Wilberforce.

At NCCN, we're proud to support people across Yorkshire, helping them remain independent in the place they love most – home.

🌹 Happy Yorkshire Day from all of us at NCCN!
