Apparently we have quite a few opinions on what’s kinda chic around here… 💅

Looking after your body, moving for the long game, knowing when to push and when to rest… and turning up even when you really can’t be arsed.

Very kinda chic, actually.

What would you add? 👇

This weekend was… boring.

And I think it might have been one of the best weekends of my life. 😍

We didn’t get in the car for three days.

We didn’t turn the TV on.

There was no itinerary, no rushing, no pressure to make the most of every minute.

We simply… existed.

Somewhere along the way we’ve started believing that a full calendar equals a full life, but this weekend reminded me that maybe peace looks a little different.

I’ve written about it over on my Substack blog - why I’m starting to wonder if a “boring” life is actually something worth aspiring to.

For the last eleven years, one weekend every summer has looked exactly the same. Until now…

Sometimes the quiet moments say the most…

A peaceful corner, fresh coffee, space to pause, breathe, catch up or simply be.

Whether you’re joining us before class, meeting a friend, or escaping the rush for a little while, we’d love to welcome you. ♥️

I don’t teach movement to make people fitter. I teach movement to prepare them for life.

“Preparation is key.”

Those three words have been in my head all week.

My dad had them painted on the wall of his paint spraying business. Every job started with preparation, because without it, even the best finish wouldn’t last.

I don’t think I fully appreciated what he meant until much later in life, and even more so recently when life has thrown its biggest curveball yet.

We spend so much time preparing for holidays, birthdays, interviews and big events…

We insure our homes, we service our cars, we sometimes buy extended warranties… ‘just in case.’

But how often do we prepare the one thing that carries us through every single day?

Our bodies.

Movement isn’t about chasing perfection or burning calories - it’s about preparing ourselves to live well for as long as possible;

To get up off the floor with ease, to lift shopping, to play with grandchildren, to wipe our own bums… to recover from life’s inevitable knocks…

To keep doing the things we love for as long as we possibly can.

I’m drilling down in preparation in this week’s Movement for Life classes. Not because your body needs fixing -
because your future self will thank you for preparing it today.

✨ BIG NEWS FROM THE SANCTUARY ✨

We’re so excited to share that The Sanctuary at Sass has been recognised with a 2026 Highly Recommended Award from Fresha! 🏆

OUT OF MORE THAN 140,000 businesses on the platform 🤯 we’ve been recognised as one of the top-rated and most recommended treatment spaces - and we couldn’t be prouder.

But if you’ve ever had a treatment with Shelley… you’ll know this comes as absolutely no surprise. 🤍

From the moment you walk through the door, you’re made to feel completely cared for. Whether you’re booking a deeply restorative massage, a glow-boosting facial or simply taking an hour to breathe, Shelley has the incredible ability to help you switch off, soften and leave feeling like a lighter version of yourself.

This award isn’t just about great treatments. It’s about the experience, the care, the attention to detail, and every single client who has taken the time to leave such wonderful feedback.

So thank you. Every review, recommendation and kind word has helped make this possible.

And if you’ve been thinking about booking some time for yourself… perhaps this is your sign. ✨

Come and experience one of the UK’s Highly Recommended treatment spaces for yourself. We promise you’re in the very best hands.

☀️ The sunshine is wonderful… but for small businesses, it can be terrifying…

When the weather is beautiful, most people assume cafés must be packed.

The reality?

For many of us, it’s actually one of the quietest times of the year. Everyone heads to parks, gardens and supermarkets instead - footfall disappears almost overnight.

If you’ve been meaning to pop in for a coffee, today is the day. 🙏🏼

We’re stocked with:
🧊 Iced coffees
🍵 Iced matcha
🥤 Milkshakes
🍓 Smoothies
🥤 Cold drinks

We’ve got seating downstairs if you want to stay cool, a sunny and shady outdoor space if you’d rather enjoy the weather, or everything is available to take away.

This isn’t about making anyone feel guilty.

It’s simply a little reminder that choosing an independent business over a chain - even just for one coffee - genuinely makes a difference.

Your £3.50 doesn’t just buy a drink.

It helps keep the lights on, supports local jobs, keeps community spaces alive, and means places like ours are still here when the weather inevitably turns grey again.

If you were thinking of grabbing a drink today, we’d absolutely love to see you. 💛

(And if you can’t make it, even sharing this post helps more than you probably realise.)

Friday | 8.30-3
Saturday | 8.30-4
Sunday | 9.30-3

Reality: we’ve been so quiet in the sunshine that most days we’ve closed early. If we don’t have customers to serve, we can’t afford to keep the doors open! 😞

Sometimes life asks you to hold joy and sadness in the very same moment.

The last two weeks have been exactly that.

I’ve had the most wonderful holiday with Gino - slowing down, talking, planning, spending time together and, of course, soaking up every moment with lots of Cypriot cats. ❤️

Coming home has looked a little different than expected.

Before I left, my dad had a stroke… so whilst I’m incredibly grateful to be back, I’m also stepping into a season of supporting him and my family as we navigate the recovery ahead.

Today we spent time in the garden together. I filmed a little grounding movement practice… and then Dad wandered into the video. 🥹 Only a few days ago that would’ve felt impossible, so his little interruption is probably my favourite part - real life, real progress. 🤞🏻

Tomorrow I’m back teaching, and it honestly feels like exactly where I need to be. Therapy for me as much as my students.

With this beautiful weather, upcoming classes will be slower, softer and more grounding - helping you (and me!) settle into our bodies, breathe a little deeper and leave feeling lighter than when we arrived.

I just wanted to let you know that there may be the odd last-minute cover teacher or occasional cancellation while I support my family. I hope you’ll understand, and I’m so grateful for the kindness, patience and lovely messages from those who already knew what was happening. They have meant more than you realise.♥️

One thing this curveball is reminding me of right now is…

Life can change in an instant.

So if the sun is shining, sit in the garden.
If someone you love asks you to spend time with them, say yes.
Move your body.
Take the holiday.
Drink the best coffee.
Stroke the cat. A lot. 😻

The ordinary moments often become the ones we treasure most.

See you on the mat. 🌿🤍
