Hey Darlings ✨ How are we all?
I’m not one to share or talk about physical illness. I’ve always believed it was rude manners, woe is me, drama queen. These critical limiting beliefs have held me back. Through sessions with my own wonderful therapist (yes therapists have therapists to) I have come to realise this is conditioning, values I learnt over the years that actually have no value whatsoever so ever to me or my life. Things that are false have become fact, beliefs that have kept me small, isolated and held back. So much like anything challenging them is important, the first step is recognising them for what they are; critical, false, limiting and the second is to apply action.
💫’Willingness is the way towards change’ ~ CW
So in light of my new knowledge I am going to apply the change and share. Of course there is a part of me that wants to sugar coat, play it down, put in the mask of perfection - but I know this only leads to further isolation. Sharing is not rude manners, it’s not woe is me, it’s certainly not drama queen, as my therapist would say ‘it’s just honest, where you are is where you are and that’s okay’.
I haven’t been out and about for a while due to optic neuritis and brutal steroid withdrawal that knocked me out of the game of life for a good 2-3months. The steroids were to try and save my vision as my optic nerve was acutely inflamed, but little did I know how debilitating the come down would be. I am an active independent person, but that had to go on pause as I found myself unable to stay awake, unable to walk my dog, unable to climb my stairs and unable to pick up the kettle. Weak, fatigued and in pain my life suddenly began to ebb backwards like a wave crushing everything I knew, my plans, my work, my self drowning under the weight of it all. Such is life at times when unexpected things force us to adapt.
But - here’s the secret adapting isn’t always that bad, as I was force to accept help, to reach out and to allow others to reach in and meet my needs. A previous version of myself wouldn’t have allowed this help, but this ever evolving version of me knew this was the work, this was the growth - so I allowed it in. Sure I had doubts. My internal negative narrative berates me with with ‘shoulds and shouldn’t ’ but my physical self knew I needed support. So kindness flowed in, in abundance.
It’s okay to be as you are, you are allowed to share, you have permission to be honest and ask for help. Life isn’t always calm seas, there are storms and rip tides too and it’s okay to speak up about them.
Life is always in motion, nothing ever stays the same for long, like the sea it ebbs and then it flows, ever changing, ever evolving, ever passing by! Even when we feel like we are drowning it we give ourselves a chance to look up, there will always be someone or something there to keep you afloat.
So today I am grateful for the lessons the ebb’s have taught me and even more grateful for the flow it brings to my life.
Continue on continuing, I got you, you got me, we got this ~ stronger together always. 🫶🏼
