Remembering a special lady whose death certificate is used as an example in our courses. What stands out is that she is noted as the daughter of her father, rather than the exceptional woman with an impressive career in her own right that she was. No mention of her occupation. A time when women's achievements went unremarked on official documents.

The 13th August marks the 116th anniversary of Nightingale's death.

For the last few years of her life, Nightingale was once again housebound, with her eyesight failing. The number of visitors that were admitted to her home on South Street, London, were strictly limited to a small number of close family members.

On Saturday 13th August, 1910, Nightingale quietly passed away in her sleep at around 2 o'clock in the afternoon. She was 90 years old.

Today we continue to keep her long legacy alive by telling the story of her life, the work she did during her life and the ongoing impact of this work.
