Back in June, my Auntie Jeanne sadly passed away following a long and brave battle with cancer.

In her memory I have started a fundraiser and am asking for sponsorship for my last athletics competition of the season (the 1 hour Decathlon) to raise money for the hospice that cared for her.

📢 CUSTOMER NOTICE: 🔈

From 1st October, there will be a small change in price for my services. 1 hour appointments will increase from £55 to £58, whilst 30 mins sessions from £28 to £30. These prices are still lower than most equivalently qualified Physios, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and Podiatrists.

As many of you know, I'm always keen to expand my knowledge and gain more qualifications and experience to improve the quality of the services I provide to my clients.

By the time these changes come into effect, I will have attended four training courses since the last price increase. I have added the Dry Needling, Electrotherapy and Cupping services to my ever-expanding list, and I have to consider the cost of these due to the time off work, travel, accommodation, new equipment, and of course the cost of the courses themselves. I estimate these expenses over the last 12 months at around £4,500. There is also the new ongoing costs such as purchasing needles and the sharps disposal.

One thing that I encounter a lot is the tendency of people to solely attribute their ailments to their age 🧓

Unfortunately it's not that simple. Whilst age may increase the susceptibility to certain issues, this is all the more reason to do the right things when it comes to lifestyle and not blame problems on something uncontrollable to avoid accountability for poor lifestyle habits 🫄🥓🧇 🚬 🍺

Strength training is the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth, and it is essential as we age. Reduced falls risk, increased muscle mass, and bone mineral density are just some of the benefits and the research supports these findings in abundance. In fact, we've known for decades 🏋️

A 1990 research study examined the effects of strength training in older adults (average age of 90!) and the results were very enlightening 💡

In just 8 weeks, the average increase in leg strength was 174%! 😯

These results speak for themselves - to achieve the best quality of life in older age, proper strength training (heavy weights close to your one rep max) is essential. This also proves you can benefit at any age, but the earlier you start the better! ⏳

⛱️ CUSTOMER NOTICE: ⛱️

Please be aware in light of the hot weather we've been having along with it being holiday season, there is a common issue I deal with this time of year.

Sunburn presents as a contraindication to treatment; meaning I cannot treat you in the area affected. And as a practitioner who strongly believes in the philosophy of 'where the pain is the problem often isn't', it may present more of an issue to your treatment than you think (i.e. there could be dysfunction in the burn site that now can't be treated but is still affecting another area).

Even if your burnt area is healed, your top layer of dead skin may be in the peeling stage - when the massage starts it then sheds, mixes with the oil and creates a disgusting mess on my hands, the couch and even the floor, which I then have to clean up, so it's not very pleasant for me 🤢

So over the summer months, please do consider these points and remember to avoid burning by wearing sunscreen! 🧴 ☀️⛱️
