💜 Trigger warning: baby loss 💜
We understand this may be difficult for some to read, so we will create some space before our post to provide a chance to scroll past it if you need to.
There’s a gap in care we can’t stop thinking about.
When a baby is born sleeping, or dies shortly after birth, the person who gave birth often doesn’t get the postnatal recovery care they should.
Many are moved onto the bereavement pathway and quietly fall off the postnatal one, even though their body has still been through birth.
For others, the aftercare happens in the same place as their loss, or in a waiting room full of mum and baby posters. Care that’s meant to help becomes the last place they want to be.
So we’re holding space at our clinic for free postnatal checks for anyone in this position.
The aim is simple: to help your body recover from birth. That usually means looking after the pelvic floor and core, and putting a plan in place to ease or improve any problems. Your recovery matters in its own right, whether or not you go on to try for another baby.
For some, this is something they want to do before trying again. For others it’s simply about feeling more like themselves. Both are completely okay.
There’s no clock on this. Healing from this kind of loss looks different for everyone, and there’s no right time to come in. If and when you feel ready, we’re here. Simply send us a DM or an email and we’ll take it from there 🩷
*We know some families are later blessed with a rainbow baby. This service is for those who have not had that experience, and who are still finding their way forward after loss.
Please still reach out if you need support, we’ll always do what we can to help and to advise on the most appropriate care for you.
