This , we're highlighting the vital role GP practices play in identifying and supporting unpaid Carers. Many Carers don’t recognise themselves as Carers and can miss out on important support, advice and services.

Through our Carer-Friendly GP Practice programme, supported by our Primary Care Coordinator, Susan Lee, practices across South Tees are helping to ensure Carers are recognised earlier and connected to the help they need.

🎊🎉Well Done and Thank You!🎊🎉

We are delighted to announce that together we raised an incredible £1,176.00 from our staff sponsored coastal walk in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support !!

A huge well done and heartfelt thank you to all the staff who took part in the walk. Your enthusiasm, commitment, and teamwork made the event such a success.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who donated, including staff, patients, friends, and family members.

Your generosity and support will help Macmillan Cancer Support continue providing vital care and support to people affected by cancer.

Day 2 of Dementia Action Week 💙

Did you know there are over 100 different types of dementia? Memory loss is often the symptom people think of first — but it isn’t always the earliest sign.

Our brains control so many functions, which means dementia can show up in different ways. It’s important to recognise the wider signs, including:
🔹 Trouble finding the right words or following conversations
🔹 Difficulty completing familiar everyday tasks
🔹 Confusion with time or place
🔹 Misplacing things in unusual places
🔹 Withdrawal from social activities or hobbies
🔹 Changes in mood, behaviour, or decision making

Dementia is NOT a natural part of ageing, and recognising the signs early can make a real difference.

If you notice any of these symptoms in yourself or someone you care about, speak to your GP.

🌟 Congratulations to Park & Thorntree Surgeries - Middlesbrough 🌟

We’re delighted to celebrate Park and Thorntree Surgeries for achieving Carer Friendly GP Practice status 💙

The practice has taken fantastic steps to identify and support hidden carers through patient text messages, information displays, and carer registration forms throughout the surgery. Thanks to this proactive work, 193 unpaid carers have already been added to the carers register, with numbers continuing to grow each month.

With support from our Primary Care Coordinator, Susan Lee, the practice has also developed a Carer Information Pack and plans to introduce annual health and wellbeing reviews for unpaid carers.

💬 Amy Holt, Admin and Operations Manager, said:
“Our GP practice has strengthened its commitment to supporting unpaid carers within our community. This has helped us create a more carer-aware environment where unpaid carers feel recognised, valued, and supported.”
