Working online today called for comfy clothes. 💻 🙌🏻

I was feeling a little achy, so I took some time to practise ‘Easy Seat’ or ‘Sukhasana’ and thought I’d share it with you.

📍A little disclaimer: I’m currently training & not yet qualified as a Yoga teacher so please always listen to your own body and only do what feels right for you.

I was a little nervous sharing, as I know there may be experienced yoga teachers watching. But, I’ve left in the stumbled words and imperfect moments because I want to show that we don’t need the perfect outfit, the perfect space, or even perfect confidence to start moving our body.

Part of my training is building confidence in guiding and teaching the asanas, and sharing little snippets like this is one way I’m helping myself grow.

The video has been sped up x2 as the original was around 5 minutes long. If you’d like to follow along, simply give yourself the time your body needs for each movement, twist and breath.

Perfect isn’t the goal — showing up is. ✨

Watch me regulate using creative techniques 🎨

(Speed x2)

I had a longer lunch break recently, so I took some time to slow down & use creativity to help calm & regulate my nervous system.

✨ I started by painting a line as I breathed in & a line on the opposite side as I breathed out, gradually encouraging my breaths to become a little longer and bringing my attention back to the present moment.

✨I then moved on to drawing with a pebble, allowing the pebble to choose the direction my pen moved in.

✨Afterwards, I water-coloured the different shapes that had appeared on the page before finishing by

✨Painting colours across the whole page.

There was no right or wrong. I painted outside the lines, I accidentally lifted my pen off the page, & none of it mattered. This wasn’t about creating something perfect and it wasn’t even about the picture on the page.
It was about giving my mind & body space to slow down & how I felt while creating it. 🫟

Creative activities like these can help bring us into the present moment, reduce stress, encourage self-expression, support emotional regulation and provide a gentle way of calming the nervous system.

Research suggests that engaging in creative activities can lower stress levels, improve mood and support overall wellbeing. Sometimes it isn’t about what you create, but the process of creating itself.🎨

Do you have a creative activity that helps you reset during the day?

Sometimes having a regular weekly space that is yours can make such a difference. A space to pause, talk openly, process emotions & feel supported through whatever life is bringing up.

For many people, having the same day and time each week creates a sense of routine, safety and accountability, allowing therapy to become part of their routine.

Sessions can support a wide range of things including:
🔸anxiety,
🔸overwhelm,
🔸relationships,
🔸stress,
🔸low mood,

🔸life changes,
🔸burnout,
🔸grief,
🔸self - development,
🔸feeling a little lost in yourself,
🔸or simply wanting a space that is just for you.

They can also be really valuable if you are wanting support whilst working towards personal goals or making changes in your life 🤍

Breathe with me 🌬️🤍

I thought I would record a video sharing some of the breathing techniques I use with clients in sessions.

Nice & simple ones you can do at home, at work, or even in the shop ✨

I haven’t added exact timings to this video, because l do not want you to feel pressure or forced ‘to get it right.’
Your breath should help you feel grounded & calm. 🧘🏼‍♀️

If you’re not sure where to start, a gentle guide is:
• Inhale for 4
• Hold for 4
• Exhale for 4

From there, see if you can slowly lengthen your out-breath. This is where the real shift happens.

A longer exhale helps activate the body’s calming response (your parasympathetic nervous system via the vagus nerve), signalling safety and allowing your heart rate to slow.

Over time, this can help you feel more regulated, grounded and in control.

There’s no “perfect” count, if holding your breath feels uncomfortable, shorten it or skip it altogether.

The most important thing is that your body feels safe.

🟥❤️🔺In the video I have shared shape breathing & you can use it anywhere:
• Trace a window frame → box breathing (great for anxiety & overwhelm) 🖼️
• Follow the edge of a sign → triangle breathing 🚩
• Imagine the breath filling up your heart, by breathing into your chest. (Let me know if you would like a video on chest/ belly breathing.) 💚

It becomes less about doing a “technique” & more about having a quiet tool you can return to whenever you need it.

📍Save this for when things feel a little too much, or come back to it as part of your daily reset 🤍

✨🫁And let me know which one felt best for you? Or is there another technique you’d like me to share next?

I’ve just finished watching Babies on & I honestly can’t recommend it enough.
It has done an amazing job at capturing the realities of trying to conceive - the hope, the heartbreak, the different experiences of loss & fertility struggles, the impact on relationships, & the lack of support given from the NHS.

What really stayed with me, was how powerfully it represented men’s mental health. Paapa Essiedu, who plays Stephen, portrays this with such depth. I lost count of how many times I filled up watching his performance. 💔

As a women’s counsellor, I often speak up about women’s experiences - their mental health, their bodies, the pressures placed upon them & the ongoing need for equality in a society that still, at times overlooks, minimises, or misunderstands these realities.

But this series is an important reminder to also acknowledge the quieter struggles many men carry. The difficulty in allowing emotions to surface, the pressure to stay strong for others, the need to ‘fix’ & the fear of facing painful or uncomfortable feelings.
It highlights what can happen when those emotions are held in rather than expressed.

A gentle note: this series contains many potentially triggering scenes. Not only in what is shown, but in the emotional depth it evokes. Please take care when watching and go at your own pace 🤍
