Day twohundred&twentyone - show us ya puds 😋

I've been rather unstable the last few days, and this morning was no different. Although, at least I didn't wake up with a hangover! After a rocky start, I had a nap on the sofa, waking up feeling much more positive.

I then headed up to the farm to see Bops, getting fuel and some shopping on my way home.

I've spent most of this afternoon in the kitchen, cooking up a mint lamb stew (as in, it was minty lamb... Although tbf it was also a pretty mint stew!), served with mash, roasties and Yorkshire's😍

A pretty sundayee Sunday, ending much better than it started. Another week over with, another week closer to the dream 🩷

Day twohundred&nineteen - appreciate the little things 🩷

I woke up super anxious this morning, which was annoying seeing as I've actually been pretty okay this week! Such is life.

I took the morning a bit slower, getting everything done still, just taking a bit of pressure off myself.

I saw something interesting online this morning - a neighbour wanting to do something to help the community - so pinged off a message to see if I could help. After a few messages back and forth, I'm excited to see what happens with it!

I headed up to the farm to get Belle in for the day, spending some time with a familiar gorgeous squishy face, helping her new mum try on fly rugs to find one that fits. I've lent them one of Belle's old rugs from when she was a yearling, so it's nice to see that get a second life!

Me and the dogs had a lovely walk, getting a call from dad while we were out for a nice catch up.

This afternoon, I've been back up to the farm, returning home to see an email has come through that I've been waiting for from court, so now I've got my legal hat on for an evening of unpacking that. Fun times.

On the bright side, this has been a large contributor to my anxiety for the last couple of months, so at least now hopefully that can ease off a little 🤷‍♀️

Pic of: the picture doesn't really do it justice, but I found a feather on our walk that, when tilted into the right light, has the most beautiful blue shine! (the shorter side) Very pretty 🪶

Do you know what never fails to make me laugh? The existence of Alpha Male bootcamps.

The juxtaposition between someone claiming to be an "Alpha", yet paying obscene amounts of money to other delusional men to be taught how to be an "Alpha"... How can you not laugh?

I mean, it's literally the most cringey s**t ever if you think about it 😂

Day twohundred&eighteen - a man got very irrationally angry at me this morning. People be crazy🤬🫪

Another busy morning and a much chiller afternoon.

This morning, I went straight up to the farm, headed on back to the garage to pay the rest of my bill (cash is king... But daily limits exist😅), went to farmfoods for a big shop, and popped into the chemists to speak to the pharmacist about my foot. (I promise I don't have manky feet🙈😂)

I pottered around the house for a bit, then sensing a brief break in the rain, I took the dogs out for their walk. I was wrong. We got wet. But still had lots of fun 🐾

This afternoon, I've not really done much at all if I'm honest haha. I've been back up to the farm again and Jonny's come round for a quiet night in.

A nice normal day all in all 🙂

I've just been chatting with Jonny about the cultures of the upper palaeolithic stone age... Because, of course that's what we're chatting about😂 we got on to bonobos.

Do you know what I would REALLY love to see as a piece of research?

How quickly can we manipulate evolution to take place? Like, how many generations would it take for an ape to give birth to a "human"?

I'm using ape very loosely here to encompass any and all suitable monkey-like beings. I'm using human as a catch-all for their equivalent end-point.

But we know that they are smart. There's been solid psychology research done since, christ, at least the 60's, showing that we can teach them things like language, life skills etc.

I wonder how quickly we could manipulate evolution to take place in a perfect environment. How quickly could we, without any biological involvement, go from ape to human? How many generations would it take? What would it look like? What would the final output of 'human' be?

This is why I don't like academia really. It's too limited; innovation is stifled and there's a focus instead on repeating the same as what's come before. I wanna go big. I hear University of Cambridge is on the look out for a diversity hire...👀

Idk, I just think it would be very cool to see what would happen. I know ethics are a big thing, and I get it, but it would be interesting to see, no?

I often wonder why we don't see more provisions like this for schools. We totally accept a work-life balance in adults, we respect the benefits of hybrid working for adults... Yet we hold children - humans who still don't actually understand the world they're living in - to significantly higher standards. Why?

Great to see something like this!
