I’ve been living here for almost 20 years, and it’s criminal that I can forget I live by the beach. We can all get caught up in our busy lives, and forget to appreciate what’s on our doorstep!

I took myself off for a beautiful hours walk, splashed along the shoreline, listened to some of my favourite tunes and marvelled at the scenery and warmth with a sense of gratitude.

It created spaciousness in my mind and lightened my heart.

Last month saw in our 25th Wedding Anniversary, and we decided to go back to the very place where Steve had proposed to me way back in 1999!!!

Not too much had changed in all that time to the place, we had a lovely couple of days on the beach there reminiscing in the sunshine. Time passes so quickly, and boy do we change over the years!!!

And this 90’s club classic was top of the charts when we were there all those years ago. Memories of the dance floor❤️

Ps I can’t take a good selfie. Ever.

A little yoga mat invasion this evening from my gorgeous kitty Iris. Don’t know if she was feeling the vibe, joining in or attention seeking! 😂

Life has been a bit nuts recently.

I’ve been away a lot in the last 3 months and finding a routine has been challenging to say the least.

I’m someone who struggles to stick to a plan at the best of times so travelling has thrown me completely out.

So much so that I can resist getting on my mat when I know it’s exactly what I need.

But in the warmth of this evening, I got on my mat, and the way it feels to me is like coming home to myself. Feeling sensations. Marrying them to my breath and breathing through the challenge of holds, I’m reminded why yoga is so special to me. My body holds a lot of trauma and pain and it’s my way of acknowledging, releasing and accepting everything it goes through.

Yoga is an anchor in my life, and it is a strong thread that weaves through my thoughts and actions, it supports my body and mind in daily life. But there’s so much more in life that I love and am!!!

1. I ❤️ music of all types and eras, depending on my mood. Music is on all day long at home and away! Soundtrack to life 😍

2. You can’t put me in a box and label me! I’m a Gemini, also Vata (air element) dominant (yogi people will know) so very changeable!! I can be chatty and confident but also very introverted. Social battery can run very low and you won’t see me for dust. I like my own company.

3. I speak Spanish quite well as I studied there briefly but am no longer fluent.

4. I love beautiful things, colour, texture, pattern, scenery. I love interiors and creating.

5. I have dogs and a cat, all ladies.

6. My hobbies are watching
theatre and gigs, I play tennis, golf, I ski and love swimming and I dabble occasionally with ballet.

7. I don’t drink booze. I’ve not had any for over 2 years. Although for pretty much half of my forties I steered clear of alcohol. My body doesn’t cope with it anymore.

8. I love to go on little trips, I need the stimulus of new places and beautiful scenery. Preferably in warm places.

9. I’m a mum of 3 grown boys, married for 25 years. I’m a cricket and theatre mum!

10. Yoga changed my life and taught me how to love and respect my body.

May was manic. When life gets too hectic, I don’t really surface on social media. It doesn’t resonate with me at all. I’m too busy trying to be present in my own life, juggling all the balls in the air and trying not to drop any. Like so many of us are!

I’ve had a little time away last week to a very sunny France to rest, slow down and recharge the batteries, but with lots of daily swims to keep gently active.

Back to classes this morning and feeling grateful for the movement after a long day’s travel, and ready to welcome daily routines again.

So lovely to welcome my students after a weeks break.

Yesterday was my first time back on my mat after travelling and boy did I need it!!

My practice was slow and releasing - I felt heavy in my body (might have something to do with my excessive consumption of tartflette, French bread and reblochon cheese!!! 😁)

But in reality it’s tightness from hours of driving and sitting in the car, stopover hotel beds, and a weeks skiing have all played their part.

I did take my mat with me, but only managed one practice after the first day, for much the same reasons. I’m not beating myself up over it- holidays are exactly that, and skiing holidays are very busy! A physical practice of course isn’t the only aspect of yoga. It’s more about how we live, through the lense of yoga.
