The hot weather over the coming days may affect people’s health, especially older people, young children and those with health conditions.

⚠️The Met Office have issued an amber warning for extreme heat for much of England and Wales for this week, with temperatures potentially reaching 39°C ☀️

Generally, our bodies find it harder to adapt to more extreme temperatures as we age, and some conditions and medications can make us more susceptible to hot weather, including the high temperatures this week.

We can all help keep older people safe during heatwaves by checking in on relatives, friends, and neighbours. You could offer help to get shopping or pick up any medication.

A huge THANK YOU to the amazing team of fire fighters who rescued a very elderly lady who had fallen in south street, Midhurst. Whilst waiting for the ambulance, her condition deteriorating, they were simply driving past and stopped to help. They quickly took charge, and gently and respectfully, got her into her home close by. The team of young men were totally brilliant and literally saved the day as the ambulance were delayed. Not sure if you were Midhurst based, but THANK YOU so very, very much.
