Do you ever feel like a 3 headed awkward alien, surrounded by beautiful silky humans, who all just know whats going on and where they belong?
I was given this as a gift today and it made me think a lot about my childhood. To some, this is just a pretty can of spray with my name on. BUT to me, this has made my inner child sing.
As I kid, I was brought up in a predominantly white, middle class area. I rarely saw someone like me. Even my ballet tights (which I spent hours a week in) were pink skin toned. I stuck out like a sore thumb everywhere. I now suspect I have adhd and autism too which was another level of separation. I always had to try harder to be taken seriously.
It seems silly, but one of the things that would upset me was that there were never any keyrings or gifts with my name on. Such a small thing. To be given this meant a lot. To the two epic humans who saw me and thought of me, you have made little tiny Lara feel loved.
Being seen and made to feel important is one thing we, as humans, all have in common. It's part of the reason I do what I do.
Today, find some ways you can make others feel seen, even if its just a can of room spray.
