People often say that once you reach 40, there's little point in studying because your memory slows down and learning complex new skills becomes much harder.
I couldn't disagree more.
Last year was one of the biggest milestones of my life when I graduated with a Distinction in my Master of Science in Psychology. 🎓
The very next day after submitting my dissertation, I enrolled on a part-time training programme with to become a Clinical Mental Health Coach. I wanted to continue learning, developing practical skills, and making a real difference in people's lives.
Last summer, I passed my low-risk assessment and began supporting low-risk clients. Today, I'm incredibly proud to share that I have now passed my medium-risk assessment and am ready to support clients experiencing a broader range of mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression.
Throughout this journey, I have trained in evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Socratic questioning, and other clinically supported techniques used by the NHS and mental health professionals to help people navigate life's challenges.
My MSc at University gave me a strong theoretical foundation, but Overcome has provided me with invaluable practical skills and clinical confidence. I'm especially grateful for the opportunity to learn how to use compassionate, evidence-based conversations to help clients challenge unhelpful beliefs, gain new perspectives, and move towards meaningful change.
A huge thank you to , an incredible training provider and charity that supports people around the world while investing so much in the development of its coaches. 🌍 Your guidance, encouragement, and high standards have helped me grow enormously, and I'm excited for the next stage of this journey.
Learning doesn't stop at 40, 50, or any other age. If anything, life experience makes us even more motivated to keep growing.
Here's to lifelong learning and helping others thrive. 💙
