The week, we expanded our knowledge on the amazing code breaking roles at Bletchley park. We educated ourselves on the importance of deciphering secret messages during World War II from countries such as Germany, Japan and Italy using intricate Enigma machines. One gentleman who came along used to work at Bletchley park and the trip was amazing for all. Everyone really enjoyed the trip and learning about the secrecy of what was going on inside the walls of each hut!

This month we immersed ourselves in the gorgeous Greek islands for our "Mamma Mia - Here we go again" movie afternoon.

We transformed the lounge with beautiful backdrops and a selection of delicious popcorn at the ready.

The soundtrack had us all dancing and singing along! 🇬🇷🌼

We celebrated National Ice Cream Day here at our home! Our wonderful staff wheeled around our little ice cream trolley, complete with all the cheerful touches you could hope for. We filled it high with a selection of classic flavours and delicious toppings – bringing back all those warm, happy memories of hearing that familiar jingle as the ice cream van came trundling down the street!

It was scoop-erb fun from start to finish, every bite was sweet perfection, and we’d say it was the coolest treat we’ve had all summer! 🍦✨

Last week, we celebrated the anniversary of the legendary Apollo 11 mission here at Earsdon Grange!

Our bistro was transformed into an immersive planetarium, beautifully decorated to take us on a journey through the stars as we marked the historic moment when humanity took "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." 🌙

Residents enjoyed getting hands-on with sensory trays filled with “moon sand” while taking in the sights of our stunning galaxy projectors. We explored fascinating facts about each planet, put our knowledge to the test with a friendly space-themed trivia competition, and finished the afternoon by watching a documentary of the iconic moon landing itself. 🪐

To celebrate the British Grand Prix, Kent's Hill hosted our very own race. Wheelchairs were decorated with competing brands and transformed into F1 cars. We made a racetrack in the garden with two fun pit stops - each person had to complete a "organise the coloured balls" game and a "spot the difference" before being able to move on. Those who competed chose their racing name and were timed as they went around the track!🏎️

To celebrate National Cream Tea day, we put our baking club to work by making raisin scones. Everyone loved getting messy and mixing in all of the ingredients before rolling out the dough and cutting out fun shapes with the cookie cutters. It also was so lovely to see some new faces in our club this week. These baked delights were then thoroughly enjoyed at our tea party and were filled with lots of cream and jam. We had songs playing in the background, from the classic “The Lambeth walk” to rock and roll sensation Elvis Presley. 🧑‍🍳

This July, we celebrated superhero week in our home. Staff, as well as those living with us, put in their nominations for our hall of heroes award ceremony. A very special well done to Nicole, Madalina, Bjorn and Rene for constantly showing compassion and going above and beyond. Everyone got stuck in with our superhero themed musical fitness, followed by a hero movie. 🦸🏻

Last week, we hosted a fantastic fairground games afternoon with the help of students from Glebe Farm Secondary School.

Each student ran their own stall, featuring games like hook-a-duck, tin can alley, cup pong, darts, table hockey, and hoop throw. Everyone had a brilliant time embracing their competitive spirit while getting to know the wonderful students, whose kindness and enthusiasm made the day extra special! 🎯

This June, we celebrated the start of the FIFA World Cup by hosting our very own penalty shootout. The lounge was decorated with all the different flags that would be competing, and those living with us put their football skills to the test. We had different football chants from around the world playing in the background which livened up the atmosphere! ⚽️
