Carly Weston Counselling I’m Carly Weston, a person-centred counsellor based in Milton Keynes, working with adults both in-person and online across the UK.

PMDD & Perimenopause Counsellor and Somatic Trauma Therapist | BACP Accredited | Milton Keynes and Online across the UK

Trauma informed therapy for women experiencing emotional overwhelm, anxiety, burnout, hormone-related mood changes and low self-worth. I offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, make sense of your experiences, and move towards greater

clarity and self-acceptance. I work with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, life changes, and feeling disconnected from yourself. My approach is collaborative — we work together at your pace, focusing on what matters most to you. Whether you prefer face-to-face sessions or online therapy, you’ll be supported to reflect, grow, and make the changes you want in your life.

I’ve written a new article exploring the cost PMDD can have on a career, and how greater understanding, appropriate support and space to work through the emotional impact can make a meaningful difference.

PMDD can affect far more than mood for a few days each month. For many with PMDD, it can impact confidence, concentration, decision-making and relationships at work. The effects are not always obvious. Sometimes it looks like sick leave. Sometimes it looks like quietly pushing through while feeling....

As someone who lives with PMDD myself, I know how difficult and isolating it can feel at times — especially when you’re trying to hold everything together on the outside while internally feeling overwhelmed, reactive, exhausted, or unlike yourself.

I’ve written a new article exploring the emotional and nervous system impact of PMDD, and why so many people are left questioning themselves before realising there may be more going on beneath the surface.

PMDD can leave people feeling emotionally overwhelmed, exhausted, and misunderstood. Learn more about its emotional impact.

Saying no can feel uncomfortable — even when we know it’s the right thing for us.

For many of us, the fear isn’t really about the word itself… It’s about what we imagine it might mean: rejection, conflict, or disappointment.

But learning to say no is a way of saying yes — to your energy, your peace, and your needs.

It’s okay if it still feels hard.
You don’t have to do it alone.

I love living near so many green spaces and in a town that has some lovely places to walk. I wrote an article for the MK Citizen about how Milton Keynes has been thoughtfully designed and how this design can help boost mental health. When people think of Milton Keynes, the first things that come to mind are often the grid roads, the roundabouts, or the shopping centre. But those who live here know there’s more to this city than meets the eye.
