Maybe the past is like an anchor holding us back…”

Oof. Carrie. 💗

Because sometimes the hardest thing about changing your life isn’t working out who you want to become.

It’s letting go of who you’ve always been.

The reliable one.

The people pleaser.

The woman who always says yes.

The woman who stays in the safe job.

The woman who doesn’t make a fuss.

The woman who puts everyone else first.

The woman who has spent years saying, “I’m just not a confident person.”

We build identities around ourselves and, after a while, they start to feel like facts.

“That’s just who I am.”

But is it?

Or is that simply who you’ve practised being for a very long time?

You are allowed to change your mind.

You’re allowed to want different things.

You’re allowed to outgrow relationships, careers, habits, goals and versions of yourself that once made complete sense.

And you don’t have to hate the woman you used to be in order to become someone new.

She got you here.

She survived things.

She learned things.

She made the best decisions she could with what she knew at the time.

You can be grateful for her…

and still decide she doesn’t get to choose what happens next.

Maybe Carrie was right.

Sometimes we have to loosen our grip on who we were…

to make room for who we’re becoming. 💗

So tell me: what’s one version of yourself you’re ready to leave behind?

Not everyone gets a vote in your life.

That doesn’t mean ignoring advice, refusing to listen or believing you always know best.

It means being much more intentional about whose opinions you allow to influence the decisions you make.

Because other people bring their own experiences to your choices.

Their fears.
Their beliefs.
Their ideas about what’s sensible.
Their tolerance for risk.
Their version of what a “good life” looks like.

And sometimes, without even realising it, we start making our decisions through their lens rather than our own.

Someone you love can think you’re making the wrong decision.

Someone can question what you’re doing.

Someone can tell you they’d never do it.

And you can listen to all of that… and still choose differently.

That’s self-trust.

Not believing you’ll always get every decision right, but knowing that you trust yourself enough to make the decision, deal with what happens next and change course if you need to.

So here’s your Monday question:

If nobody else got a vote in the decision you’re currently making… what would YOU choose?

I’d genuinely love to know. 💗

Which one do you recognise?

When was the last time you gave yourself permission to put yourself on the list?

Not once everything else is done. Not when everyone else is okay. Not when the house is sorted, the work is finished, the messages are answered and you’ve finally earned the right to stop. Just because you matter too. 💗

So many women I speak to are brilliant at looking after everybody else.

They carry the mental load.
They remember what needs doing.
They show up.
They support.
They organise.
They keep going.

And somewhere amongst all of that, they quietly become the person who gets whatever energy is left over.

But prioritising yourself doesn’t have to mean disappearing to a retreat for a week or completely changing your life.

Sometimes it looks like an hour where nobody needs anything from you. A space where you can breathe. Where you can switch off the noise for a while. Where you can reconnect with your body, your thoughts and yourself.

That’s a huge part of why I offer the different wellbeing services I do through Harmonia.

Whether it’s the deep relaxation of Reiki or massage, the release and reconnection that can come through breathwork, creating stillness through meditation, or using hypnotherapy to work with the patterns and beliefs sitting beneath the surface…

They’re all different ways of creating something many women rarely give themselves:

Space that is entirely theirs.

You don’t have to wait until you’re exhausted to deserve that space.

You don’t have to justify needing it.

And you definitely don’t need anybody else’s permission.

So perhaps this is yours. 💕

Give yourself permission to choose you.

Even if it’s only for an hour.

If you feel like you need some time that is completely yours, send me a message and tell me what’s going on for you. We can have a chat about what kind of support might feel right. 🩷

I've been thinking about this a lot lately...

For more than 20 years, I worked in HR and leadership roles, and I spent a LOT of that time being the person other people came to.

The difficult employee situation.
The manager who didn't know what to do.
The team that wasn't working.
The restructure.
The person struggling.
The difficult decision nobody really wanted to make.

And when you become the person people rely on, you get very good at looking like you've got it all together, but there were plenty of times when I didn't.

Times I questioned whether I'd made the right decision.
Times I replayed conversations in my head afterwards.
Times I felt completely out of my depth.
Times I needed someone to say, "Hayley, you don't have to figure this one out on your own."

I think that's one of the reasons I'm so passionate about the work I do with women now, because I know how easy it is to become the strong one. The capable one. The dependable one. The one everybody comes to.

Somewhere amongst all of that responsibility, you forget that you're allowed to need support too.

Being a great leader doesn't mean never doubting yourself.
It doesn't mean having every answer and it certainly doesn't mean carrying everything alone.

Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is say:

"I need another perspective."
"Can you help me think this through?"
Or even...
"I'm struggling with this."

You can be incredibly capable AND need someone in your corner.

Those two things can exist at exactly the same time. 💗

So I'm curious...

If you're the person everyone else tends to rely on, who do YOU turn to when you need support?

When women step into leadership, we often focus on the practical things.

Managing people.

Running meetings.

Making decisions.

But very few people prepare us for what’s happening internally.

The self-doubt after a difficult conversation.

The weight of decisions that affect other people’s lives.

The temptation to keep everyone happy, even when it’s the wrong thing to do.

After more than 20 years working in HR and leadership, here’s what I’ve learned…

The leaders who create the biggest impact aren’t the ones who never make mistakes.

They’re the ones who are consistent.

Who communicate clearly.

Who make decisions with integrity.

Who are willing to have the conversations others avoid.

And who remember that leadership isn’t about having all the answers.

It’s about creating an environment where people can do their best work.

If you’re leading a team today and you’re finding it harder than you expected…

You’re not alone.

Leadership is a skill.

And like every skill, it grows with experience.

There’s a story I don’t tell very often.

It’s the story of how a painfully shy little girl became the woman she always needed.

For years, I thought I was searching for the right career.

HR.

Leadership.

Beauty.

Coaching.

I kept thinking the next thing would finally make me feel fulfilled.

Looking back, I realise I wasn’t searching for a different career.

I was searching for me.

Life took me through divorce, single motherhood, boardrooms, self-doubt, redundancy and moments where I questioned absolutely everything.

One moment changed the course of my life.

Standing in a boardroom, I froze.

I walked out, sat in my car and cried.

That day, I asked myself one question that changed everything:

Who am I underneath everyone else’s expectations?

That question led me here.

Today, I don’t just help women build confidence.

I help them remember who they were before the world convinced them to doubt themselves.

Because I don’t believe women are fragile.

I believe they’re fu***ng warriors.

Sometimes…

They just forget.

If my story reminds even one woman that it’s never too late to choose herself, then every twist and setback in my journey has been worth it.

And if you’re new here…

Welcome.

I’m so glad you found me. 💛

Have you ever noticed how often women apologise?

“Sorry to bother you…”
“Sorry, just a quick question…”
“Sorry, can I add something?”
“Sorry I’m late…”

Most of the time, we aren’t apologising because we’ve done something wrong. We’re apologising because we’ve been conditioned to soften our presence.

We make ourselves smaller, to avoid inconveniencing anyone.

So, here’s your reminder today…..

Apologise when you’ve caused harm, not because you have a voice and definitely not because you exist!

How many unnecessary “sorry’s” do you think you’ve said today?

31/07/2026

For years, I wore independence like a badge of honour.

“I’ve got it.”

“I’ll sort it.”

“I don’t want to bother anyone.”

Sound familiar? The thing is, I wasn’t being strong. I was making life much, much harder than it needed to be.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that asking for help doesn’t take away your strength, it protects it.

Whether it’s asking for advice, accepting support, leaning on friends, working with a coach or simply admitting you’re finding something difficult, you’re not failing.

You’re being human.

The women I admire most aren’t the ones who have all the answers.

They’re the ones who are confident enough to ask questions, open enough to learn and wise enough to know they don’t have to do everything alone.

So here’s your reminder today:

You are allowed to ask for help. Not because you’re weak, because you’re worthy of support, just like everyone else.

💛 What’s one thing you’ve found easier since you stopped trying to do it all on your own?
