That Dizzy Feeling When You Roll Over in Bed? It Could Be BPPV.

If you've ever sat up in the morning and felt the room spin for a few seconds, you're not imagining it. That sudden, brief bout of dizziness is one of the most common signs of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV), and it's something many adults and seniors experience without ever knowing there's a name for it.

BPPV happens when tiny calcium crystals in your inner ear shift out of place, sending confusing signals to your brain about your body's position. The good news? It's very treatable. At Tenderleaf Clinic, our team takes a whole-body approach to getting to the root of what's causing your symptoms, not just masking them. Using gentle, non-invasive techniques, we work with you and your own movements to help restore balance and reduce that disorienting sensation. No heavy manipulation, no medication. Just careful, personalised care from a team that genuinely listens. Have you or someone you love ever experienced unexplained dizziness or vertigo? Drop a comment below πŸ‘‡ and let us know how long it took before you found out what was actually going on.

Chiropractic care works best as an ongoing habit

Back pain, stiff joints, headaches from your neck: these don't just show up once and disappear on their own. They tend to come back if the underlying imbalance never gets addressed.

That's where regular chiropractic care makes a real difference. Our chiropractors use the McTimoney approach, a gentle technique developed in the UK over 50 years ago, focused on correcting alignment in the spine and joints to restore proper nerve function.

Patients come to us for all sorts of reasons: not just back and neck pain but also issues like sciatica, headaches, shoulder complaints, leg/knee issues, recovery support after sports injuries, joint arthritis and general aches that have built up in the body over time. The common thread is that consistent care tends to help more than a single visit ever could.

For adults and seniors especially, staying on top of spinal health supports independence and mobility as the years go on.

Are you due a check-up, or has it been a while since your last one?

Meet Geetha, our new Sports Massage Therapist

We're pleased to welcome Geetha Karanki to the TenderLeaf Clinic team.

Geetha is a qualified Sports Massage Therapist currently studying chiropractic, which means she brings both hands-on treatment skills and a deep understanding of how the body moves and heals.

Her approach is personal and thorough. She takes time to understand each patient's goals, whether that's recovering from an injury, managing pain, or simply moving more freely day to day.

Outside the clinic, Geetha's into photography, dancing and cooking with fresh ingredients, interests that feed straight back into how she thinks about balance and movement in her work.

If you've been putting off dealing with stiffness, tension or a nagging ni**le, is now the time to book in and see what Geetha can do for you?

That spinning feeling when you roll over in bed? It could be BPPV.

If you've ever felt a sudden, brief sensation that the room is spinning when you look up, bend down, or turn over in bed, you're not alone. These moments can feel unsettling, but they may have a very specific cause: BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo), a condition involving tiny crystals in the inner ear that can shift out of place and disrupt your sense of balance. That said, not all dizziness is down to BPPV, which is exactly why a proper assessment matters before drawing any conclusions.

At Tenderleaf Clinic, our team can assess patients who are experiencing these kinds of symptoms and, where appropriate, use gentle head-positioning techniques to help manage them. No invasive procedures, no guesswork. Just a thorough, caring look at what's actually going on. Have you or someone you know ever experienced that sudden dizzy spell and had no idea what caused it? We'd love to hear your experience in the comments. πŸ’™

Why pain signals get stuck, and how we help them stop

Pain doesn't always mean fresh damage. Often it means a joint isn't moving properly and the nerves around it are stuck sending distress signals long after they should have stopped.

McTimoney chiropractic works by realigning the spine and other joints so nerve function can return to normal, easing pain at the source rather than just masking it.

For some patients, we add MLS Laser Therapy alongside adjustments. It's a class 4 laser using specific wavelengths (905nm and 808nm) that calm pain-sensing nerves, reduce inflammation, and boost blood flow to speed up repair. Each session builds on the last, which is why we usually recommend 3 to 6 sessions for lasting results.

It's used for everything from back and hip pain to plantar fasciitis and old sprains that never quite settled.

Have you been living with a ni**le for so long you've just stopped mentioning it?

Your Shoes Could Be the Reason Your Back Hurts

Most people never think to look down when their hips, knees, or spine start causing trouble, but the shoes you wear every single day have a direct line to how your whole body stacks up and moves. Poor footwear choices can shift your posture, put uneven pressure through your joints, and quietly contribute to conditions like plantar fasciitis, sciatica, and persistent lower back pain, often without you even realising the connection.

At Tenderleaf Clinic, our chiropractors regularly assess posture and movement as part of a full neuromusculoskeletal evaluation, because the feet are the foundation. A heel that's too high alters your lumbar curve. A sole with no support forces compensations all the way up through your knees and hips. Even worn-out trainers you've had too long can be doing more harm than good. πŸ‘Ÿ If you've been managing niggling back, hip, or knee pain without much relief, it's worth asking: when did you last think about what's on your feet? Drop a comment below, and tell us, are you a heels person, a flat shoe person, or somewhere in between? πŸ’¬

Cervicogenic Headache vs Migraine: Do You Know the Difference?

That headache starting at the base of your skull and creeping up toward your eyes? It might not be a migraine at all. Cervicogenic headaches actually originate from the neck, specifically from joints, muscles, or nerves in the cervical spine, and they're frequently misidentified. Unlike a migraine (which is a neurological condition often accompanied by light sensitivity, nausea, or visual disturbances), a cervicogenic headache is mechanical in origin. This means the root cause is a physical problem in your neck, and that distinction matters enormously when it comes to finding the right treatment.

Because cervicogenic headaches stem from the musculoskeletal system, they often respond well to chiropractic care. At Tenderleaf Clinic, our McTimoney chiropractors take a whole-body approach 🌿, assessing the alignment of your cervical spine to identify the restriction or dysfunction that may be driving your head pain. Getting to the actual source of the problem, rather than just managing symptoms, is exactly how we work. Have you ever been told you have migraines but felt the pain always seems to start in your neck or shoulders? Or are you currently managing recurring headaches without knowing their true cause? Drop a comment below, we'd love to hear your experience.

Long Drive This Summer? Your Spine Might Be Paying the Price πŸš—

Long car journeys are a staple of the summer holidays, but hours behind the wheel can quietly take a serious toll on your spine. Sitting in a fixed position compresses the discs in your lower back, tightens the hip flexors, and strains the muscles through your neck and shoulders. For many people, that dull ache you feel after a long drive isn't just tiredness. It's your body signalling that something needs attention.

There are a few simple things you can do to protect yourself: take a short break every 90 minutes to walk and stretch, adjust your seat so your knees are level with or slightly below your hips, and support your lower back with a small cushion or rolled towel if your car seat lacks lumbar support. If you're already dealing with back pain, hip discomfort, or neck and shoulder stiffness from time spent driving, chiropractic care can help restore proper movement and ease that built-up tension. At Tenderleaf Clinic, our team assesses the whole picture and tailors care to what your body actually needs. Have you noticed your back or neck playing up after a long journey? Drop a comment below, we'd love to hear how driving affects you. πŸ™Œ

Why Your Muscles Aren't Recovering (And What's Actually Going On)

If your muscles feel like they're taking forever to recover after exercise or an injury, poor blood flow could be the real problem. When circulation is restricted in damaged tissue, your cells simply don't get the oxygen and nutrients they need to repair properly, and inflammation lingers far longer than it should. That's where MLS Laser Therapy comes in.

At Tenderleaf Clinic, our MLS Laser works by directing specific wavelengths of light directly into the affected tissue, triggering several important changes in your body. It actively increases vascular supply to restore normal blood flow, provides energy to cells so they can repair themselves, decreases inflammatory cells, and relaxes muscle spasm almost immediately. It's non-invasive, drug-free, and completely painless, making it a genuinely brilliant option if you're dealing with conditions like tendonitis, sprains, joint pain, or muscle spasm. πŸ’ͺ Treatment is also cumulative, meaning each session builds on the last, with most patients seeing real results within 3 to 6 sessions at just Β£50 per treatment.

Have you ever struggled with a slow recovery that just didn't seem to improve no matter what you tried? Or perhaps you're curious whether MLS Laser Therapy could help with something you're currently dealing with? Drop your question in the comments or visit the link below to find out more. 🌿

Post-Exercise Recovery: Are You Missing This Key Step? πŸ’†β€β™€οΈ

You put the work in at the gym, on the running track, or in the yoga studio β€” but what happens after your session matters just as much as the session itself. If sore muscles, lingering tension, or slow recovery times are holding you back, massage therapy could be the missing piece in your routine.

At Tenderleaf Clinic, our sports and remedial massage sessions go beyond a simple rub-down. Using techniques like deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and soft tissue release, our therapist Shari Kerr works to reduce muscle tension, increase circulation, and speed up your body's natural healing process. Regular sessions can also help prevent future injury, improve your posture, and even support better sleep β€” all things that directly affect how well you train and recover. The best part? It works brilliantly alongside chiropractic care if you're looking for a more complete approach to your health. What does your current post-exercise recovery routine actually look like, and do you feel it's working for you? 🌿

Sessions start from Β£35, so whether you're dealing with a niggling injury or simply want to keep your body feeling its best, there's an option that fits. Book a consultation with us today and let's put together a plan that works around you.
