🔎 DISCOVER🔎

Our Discover area on festival day is filled with free activities to set your imagination alight 🤩

Doing something new is like bringing back that sense of awe that children have. You know when a child sees his own face for the first time? Or sees a dog? Remember a baby's amazement over their own fingers?  Those moments can get less frequent as you get older but that curiosity over the world should remain.

You'll need to take a risk of doing something that you haven't done before with our discover activities . Risk, even a small one, can be difficult, but it can have a big reward.

Trying new things is good for your mood. It can make your brain release dopamine, which leads to good feelings.

Come and rediscover your excitement and sense of wonder at the festival with free activities like:

Medieval sword fighting
Steel Pans
Archeology
and more

"Who is Arthur Ellis?!"

Hello to lots of our lovely new followers 👋

We thought we'd take a moment to introduce ourselves - and reintroduce, for the initiated - who we are.

Arthur Ellis was founded on family, and generational mental health struggles with our Founder, Jon, dating back to his grandparents.

Jon started Arthur Ellis in the name of his Granddads who both suffered with their mental health in a time that it wasn't understood, or respected.

Ellis suffered greatly with Schizo-affective Disorder and spent over three decades hospitalised. He lost his family, work and housing. After also being diagnosed with a long-term mental health condition, Jon set up Arthur Ellis to change mental health services for good 🧠

We are not just practically invested in mental health solutions, but vocational in our attitude to imparting lasting change to every person who meets with our service with no waiting lists or thresholds 💚

🏃🏾‍♀️MOVE🏃🏿
One of the most important things we can do to help protect our mental health is regular movement. Our bodies and our minds are connected, so looking after ourselves physically also helps us prevent problems with our mental health. Exercise releases “feel good” hormones, that reduce negative feelings and can improve our sleep too.

If it involves other people, like being part of a team, a class or group we see regularly, that can also boost our mental health.

Our move area is fully inclusive for all abilities. Here you will find activities like
- Parkour
- Football
- Badminton
- Obstacle challenges
- Circus tricks

As comes to an end, we reflect on what has been an opportunity to move beyond awareness and focus on action 💥

Creating an inclusive workplace isn't just about meeting obligations — it's about ensuring everyone has the opportunity to contribute, thrive, and succeed. Accessibility, empathy, and inclusion should be part of everything we do, every day. This should break workplace boundaries too, ensuring community-wide participation.

Let's challenge assumptions, celebrate the strengths and achievements of people with disabilities, and continue removing barriers that prevent equal opportunities. Small changes can make a meaningful difference, and together we can build workplaces and communities where everyone feels valued and empowered 💪

In the past month, we were fortunate enough for our Wellbeing Festival to be crowned for Equity & Inclusion; join us there to see how, together, we can commit to listening, learning, and taking action to make wellbeing for everyone — not just during Disability Awareness Month, but throughout the year.
