‼️HEATSTROKE‼️

With the weather warning for heat in place , do you know the signs of heat stroke in dogs and what to do if it happens?

Common signs
☀️ Excessive panting and drooling
☀️ Vomiting and diarrhoea
☀️ Bright red gums
☀️ Lethargy
☀️ Collapse and seizures

What to do
💦 Move them into the shade
💦 Offer them water
💦 Pour water over the dogs body
💦 Fan with cool air or air conditioning
💦 Contact your vet for further advice

To reduce the risk of heat stroke, avoid walking and playing with your dogs in the middle of the day when it’s hottest. Stick to cooler morning or evening walks.

Flat faced dogs, obese dogs and dogs suffering with laryngeal paralysis will be at an even higher risk of overheating.

Enjoy the warm weather and stay safe! ☀️
