🌘SOLAR ECLIPSE INFORMATION!🌘
* The 12 August 2026 partial solar eclipse is visible throughout the UK, with the greatest coverage expected in the South West.
* Never look directly at the Sun, even briefly and even when it is cloudy.
* Ordinary sunglasses are not safe for solar viewing.
* Use ISO 12312-2:2015(E)-compliant eclipse glasses/solar viewers that are undamaged and from a reputable source.
* Alternatively, use indirect projection, such as a pinhole viewer, colander, or tree-leaf gaps.
* Solar-retina damage can be painless and permanent, so the absence of immediate symptoms does not mean viewing was safe.
One particularly important point is that cloud cover does not make direct viewing safe: harmful solar radiation can still reach the eye through gaps or thinner cloud.
If you’re planning to watch it today, the safest simple option is an indirect pinhole projection method or properly certified eclipse glasses.
