Staying active is an important part of life at Tigh-Na-Muirn, and we have recently introduced a weekly exercise class with Daniel.

Daniel has been working with our residents on exercises designed to support strength and balance, while making sure the sessions remain relaxed and enjoyable. The classes have already become a welcome addition to our weekly activities, with plenty of smiling faces and encouragement along the way.

It has been lovely to see residents getting involved at their own pace and enjoying the social side of the sessions too. We look forward to continuing our weekly classes with Daniel.

We all had a fantastic time at our Hoedown-themed summer party, which brought residents, families, friends and staff together for a fun-filled afternoon at Tigh-Na-Muirn.

One of the highlights of our summer party was a surprise visit from the wonderful miniature ponies from Alba Ponies. They were a big hit and brought plenty of smiles as residents had the opportunity to meet them up close.

We were especially pleased that the ponies were also able to visit some of our residents in their bedrooms, ensuring that those who were unable to join the main celebrations didn't miss out. It was lovely to see the reactions as the ponies made their way around the home and spent time with our residents.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our summer party such an enjoyable occasion.

Residents were delighted to welcome the team from Eden Garden, who brought along a wonderful selection of friendly animals for everyone to meet.

There were rabbits, guinea pigs, a tortoise and, stealing everyone's hearts, an adorable baby chinchilla. Residents loved holding, stroking and cuddling the animals, with many commenting on how calming and therapeutic the visit was.

We have certainly been making the most of the beautiful summer weather! Residents have enjoyed spending time outdoors, soaking up some much-needed vitamin D and sharing plenty of laughter with friends and staff.

One of our favourite outings was a visit to Calm on the Farm at East Scryne Farm. Residents enjoyed delicious strawberries and cream, a relaxing cup of coffee and the opportunity to feed the friendly goats. It was a lovely day in the fresh air and a chance to enjoy the beautiful countryside.

Creativity has been flowing throughout the home this month, with residents taking part in a variety of arts and crafts activities. Flower arranging sessions allowed residents to create beautiful displays while enjoying the colours and scents of fresh flowers. Aqua painting proved to be both relaxing and rewarding, offering a calm and mindful activity for everyone involved.
Our twice-weekly arts and crafts classes continue to be extremely popular. Residents have enjoyed making jewellery, exploring different artistic techniques and expressing their creativity in a welcoming and supportive environment. These sessions provide not only opportunities for creativity but also valuable time for socialising and relaxation.

With the arrival of some warmer weather, residents have enjoyed spending more time outdoors and making the most of the sunshine whenever possible. We have also enjoyed several outings this month, including visits to the McManus Galleries and the V&A Dundee. These trips gave residents the opportunity to explore exhibitions, reminisce about local history and enjoy a change of scenery. Outings continue to be a highlight for many, and it is always wonderful to see residents enjoying time out and about in the community.

With the weather beginning to improve, residents have enjoyed getting outdoors whenever possible. We have had several walks in the fresh air and made the most of the sunshine when it appeared.

One of the highlights this month was a visit to the transport museum, which sparked many conversations and memories. Residents enjoyed exploring the exhibits and reminiscing about past experiences and travels.

We look forward to arranging more outings over the summer months.

Recently, we were entertained by a visit from Magic Paul, a local magician. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon, with plenty of laughter and amazement throughout the show.

Many got involved by assisting with the tricks, and there was a nice touch at the end when balloon animals, hats and swords were handed out as a reward. It was a light-hearted and memorable afternoon for everyone involved.

We have recently introduced a new addition to our activities programme – Gordon the Chihuahua, our visiting therapy dog. Gordon now comes into the home every two weeks, and he has quickly become a favourite among residents.

His visits bring comfort, smiles and a sense of calm, and it has been wonderful to see the positive impact he is already having. We look forward to many more visits from Gordon in the months ahead.
