Team Training at Monnow Eyecare 🤓

Earlier this week we had a visit from the lovely Matt who is a partner and dispensing optician at Johnson & Furze Optometrists in Thornbury.

Matt delivered a detailed talk on all things DNEye, a scanning service that we provide patients to give them a detailed measurement of their eyes resulting in lenses personalised to their individual needs 🔬👓

Our team's knowledge is refreshed, confidence boosted and we are looking forward to showing our patients what a difference having this scan can make

Eclipse day is here! 🌞

There’s something pretty special about watching the moon pass in front of the sun, but it’s really important to make sure you’re looking after your eyes while you enjoy it.

A few things to remember:
👀 Never look directly at the sun without the correct eye protection
🕶️ Regular sunglasses are not safe for viewing an eclipse
🔭 Never look through binoculars, telescopes or cameras without a specially designed solar filter
👓 If you have them, make sure your eclipse glasses are specifically designed for solar viewing and are undamaged

Even a short glance at the sun can cause serious damage to your eyes, so please take care and enjoy the eclipse safely.

August is Children’s Eye Health and Safety Month 👀📚

At Monnow Eyecare we are using this month to raise awareness of Myopia, an eye condition commonly found in children that causes short-sightedness.

Getting your child's eyes tested could help identify these issues, even if they aren't displaying symptoms, and correcting them as early as possible could even prevent them having to wear glasses in the future in some cases 🤓

Eye checks are free for everyone under 16, so why not bring them in to see us this Summer.

Introducing our newest member of the Monnow Eyecare team, Perran 👋

Perran is a newly-qualified optometrist. He graduated from Cardiff University’s Optometry and Vision Sciences programme with a first class degree and he currently splits his time between between Monnow Eyecare and another opticians.

Outside of work, Perran enjoys pushing his physical limits. He is currently training for an Ironman70.3 in Malaga before entering a full distance Ironman in the near future. He looks forward to participating in these and using them as a way of travelling around the world and experiencing different cultures 🚴‍♂️🌍
