Staff and patients from the Links Health Centre, took over all volunteer roles at Montrose Parkrun this morning. What a great way to start the morning.
Regular Montrose parkrunners will be familiar with the Links Health Centre takeovers over the years (see photo). This week, we are looking forward to welcoming everyone back as they headline our volunteer roster once again. Here is some more information as to why this is important to them:
"The Links Health Centre staff are part of an exciting, innovative, award-winning initiative, where the Royal College of GPs is collaborating with parkrun UK to promote the health and wellbeing of staff and patients. This project encourages GP practices of all sizes to link with their local parkrun events to become parkrun practices.
As a parkrun practice, the surgery encourages staff and patients to take part in parkrun and the Links Practices do an annual takeover of volunteering. Some of the staff are regular parkrunners/walkers at both adult and the junior parkruns and see this as a way to improve their health and wellbeing, increase skill development, friendships and socialising, and gives mutual support and personal empowerment to themselves.
Over 1,800 GP surgeries are now parkrun practices and we are all proud to support this initiative."
