Reflections and musings from my first World Yoga Festival 🧘♀️🌎💫🔮✨
• Give yourself time. I got so excited by the timetable and offerings that I jam-packed my first full day and, of course, completely crashed. The energy there is electric but also intense. So many others said they did the same their first year, so give yourself time to integrate, slow down, and allow the practices to settle deep in your bones 🤍
• Step out of the main festival if you need to rest and have space (massages are always a good idea too!)
• Follow your intuition, even if you’d picked something else on the timetable. Some of the best sessions I did were unexpected ones I’d picked randomly instead of going to what I thought I should!
• Feel okay to pick who you say yes to for offerings or donations. Be selective with your energy and money and follow what feels right. You’re allowed to give to what lights you up without feeling pressure to — it makes the energy exchange feel pure and intentional
• Meditation isn’t always meant to be still, neat and tidy. You may look still on the outside, but if there’s a whirlwind inside, that’s okay too — that’s also good meditation
• Yoga can be focused and controlled or playful and fun (huge mention to the Shiva Shakti class, which is the most I’ve laughed in a yoga class!)
• Take a journal, write, and notice your dreams. I had some pretty spectacular ones come up that felt so powerful. It’s beautiful what we can see in dream state ✨
• Take time to explore and appreciate the beautiful artwork, gifts and crafts. There are some incredibly talented people there, and it’s always a blessing to support small businesses
• You’ll be surrounded by laughter, compassion, mantra and music. Embrace it all
• Eat every single thing. Seriously, everything. The food was absolutely delicious and so nourishing. Support the vendors and tell them if you love something! (And cacao ceremonies are yummy 🤎)
