🌿 Living with the seasons

It’s been a particularly beautiful summer here in the UK, so we thought we’d share one of the views we’re lucky enough to enjoy from our workplace here at Source Point.

And even when the weather returns to its more familiar British combination of rain, grey skies and wind, these windows give us a wonderful reminder of the changing landscape around us.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the changing seasons are an important part of understanding health and wellbeing. Nature is constantly changing, and so are we.

Each season brings its own qualities, rhythms and demands and TCM encourages us to notice these changes and adapt; in how we move, rest, eat, work and care for ourselves.

Rather than resisting the change, there is something valuable in learning to move with it.

From the bright, expansive energy of summer to the quieter, more inward nature of autumn, each season has something to teach us.

We feel very lucky to have a front-row seat to the changing seasons here at Source Point. 🌿

What is a sliding scale payment system?

It’s a question we get asked a lot.

Simply put, a sliding scale means you choose what you pay within a set price range, based on your current financial circumstances.

At Source Point, our treatments are offered on a sliding scale. For example, community acupuncture is priced between £20–£50, with the amount you pay determined by what feels manageable for you.

We use the Green Bottle System, a simple framework developed by Alexis J. Cunningfolk that helps people choose a price that best reflects their current financial situation. There are no awkward conversations and no proof of income required, just an honest choice based on where you are right now.

Why do we do this?

Because healing often isn’t about one treatment. Whether you’re recovering from pain, managing stress, seeking support for your wellbeing or living with a long-term health condition, you may benefit from a course of treatment rather than a single session.

We know that many people simply can’t afford regular treatments at private clinic prices, particularly while household budgets are under pressure. We don’t want cost to be the reason someone misses out on the care they need.

By paying what you can, you’re helping us create a clinic that is accessible, inclusive and community-focused. Those who are able to pay a little more help make treatment possible for those who need to pay less, while everyone receives exactly the same standard of care.

We’re proud to be part of the Moretonhampstead and wider Dartmoor community, where people’s financial circumstances vary enormously. Our aim is simple: to make high-quality healthcare available to as many people as possible, for as long as they need it.

And one final note…

Alongside our sliding scale, we also offer a limited number of fully funded acupuncture treatments, supported by National Lottery funding. We’ll tell you more about that in a future post.

Why do we treat in a shared clinic?

At Source Point, we believe healthcare doesn’t have to happen behind closed doors.

As human beings, we all experience periods of health and illness. Pain, stress, fatigue, grief, anxiety and injury are part of being human. A community clinic reminds us that we’re not alone in those experiences. Seeking support is something to be shared, not hidden.

Treating together also allows our practitioners to care for more people throughout the day. By reducing overheads, we can keep treatment costs lower, making high-quality healthcare accessible to more people rather than only those who can afford private one-to-one treatment.

Most importantly, we’re exactly what our name suggests: a community health clinic. We believe health is strengthened through connection, where people support one another and everyone has the opportunity to access care.
